People lose credibility when they call GWB's decision to go to Iraq a great idea. A dictator being a dictator and killing people is not a reason to go to war. Why haven't we gone to at with NK or wiped half of Africa off the map.

The War in Iraq is the worse foreign policy decision is US history. The War in Afghanistan was fine and had we put all our chips there early and fast we could have snuffed out Bin Laden a decade before we finally did.

The War in Iraq led to the Sunni uprisings across the Arabian peninsula and led to ISIS. Both worse than Saddam.

You can't compare North Korea to Saddam's Iraq. NK, since even before the nukes, has 6,000 artillery pieces aimed at Seoul and could kill 250K people very quickly. Iraq was defenseless against the U.S.

2002 UN Security Council Resolution 1441 authorized force if Iraq didn’t agree to weapons inspections.

2002 Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution passed Congress by a wide margin.

Iraq did agree to weapons inspections and they were ongoing. The only reason the inspections stopped was because Bush invaded.

The reason Congress agreed to the AUMF was because America lost its mind after 9/11. All the people who kept a level head at the time saw that the invasion of Iraq was a monumentally stupid idea.

The Iraq war was designed to benefit oil interests. Oil has been the driver of US Middle East policy for the last several decades. It was never about protecting America. It was all about oil profits.

Which would mean he would control the Persian Gulf and be able to shut it down when he wanted.

If Saddam had control over oil from Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi, and the Gulf, the world would be at his whim.

The was only c.15 years after OPEC had caused worldwide recession by shutting down oil.

You are talking about a different war. You are talking about the first Gulf War where we liberated Kuwait in 1991. We were discussing the invasion of Iraq in 2003.

The strategy to completely remove the political framework of Iraq was one of the worst foreign policy decisions ever, followed by the actual invasion. Crippling Saddam’s regime and even killing him would have been much easier and productive. President Cheney was one of the most evil of all time.

What was Saddam doing pre 9/11 that required us to go in there? Not a dang thing.
