People pretty readily seem to forget that total jobs under Biden--with a somewhat larger population--didn't exceed the highest (pre-pandemic) number under President Trump until June of2022.Yes, job creation from 6/22 on was some of the highest ever, but the numbers that people have often thrown around ("total jobs created under Biden"--including the "recovery" jobs that just made up for the losses via Covid-19) are misleading. Biden's economy still created more net jobs than the economy did in President Trump's first three years, but the contrast is less stark.

But I do hope that the Dems walk away from the gender and race politics they like so much. Dems feel they are running for student council on a college campus and have the same cultural view as undergrads. Not great.

1,000,000/600 per day = it will take 1,666 days to get to a million deportations.

This--though I think the GOP has "helped" by brilliantly marketing the culture war stuff.
As others have noted, if the Democratic Party ever becomes the College Party, it will be doomed at the national level for the foreseeable future. The Dems need to get back to being the working person's (distinct from the low-income person's) party.
Even though the GOP is continuing to do a solid job of distraction from "real" issues, it's possible that the numbers will be so bad in the coming months--unemployment, inflation, Fed rates going up, markets (and IRAs) going down--that the Democrats will wake up, pay more attention to economic issues that actually matter to people, and let the "campus questions" go.

Exactly. Ebbs and flows. Everyone believes their party is now in a position to rule forever after their latest win. And the other party is DOA.
Dems bad polling at this moment of time is a partial reflection on disdain for Trump. Low information voters on the Dem side want the Dems to "do something to stop Trump". And they are angry that nobody is doing anything. In reality they have no power. What can they do? Some have suggested daily press conferences pointing out the lies, grift and corruption. But that is a bust. They can't compete against the right wing disinformation network. They just have to let Trump burn it down for people to see.
