Speaking of which, what is the reason that any POTUS has this power to pardon anyone? OK, I know it is in the Constitution, but what is the rationale behind it? It just seems like an odd, fairly arbitrary power to me but I imagine I am missing something.

That way they could say they held their ground keeping payments to $600 (which is the only part people read about) and not care about the climate part if it was never going to pass.

The 'you don't want to see the inside of a sausage factory' metaphor works well for representative government.

We do know Trump has been totally absent from the negotiations of any relief bill, at least from the public view.

A president is supposed to speak to the public about what is going on and they are trying to accomplish.

He's done nothing since the election.

This whole announcement from him against the bill after the fact is only because he has to sign it and he likes that power play.

I only expect bad scenarios from now until Jan 20.

When a CEO is fired in a business situation, it is always effective immediately because you don't want a disgruntled person with power.

We need to rely on checks and balances to us through this next month.

Who's fighting audits?

An audit was done in GA; it confirmed Biden's victory.

An audit has been approved in PA; it should be done by February.

An audit was done in Antrim County, Michigan, where the delusionals claimed the voting machines were magically rigged in favor of Biden. The audit confirmed the election result and showed that the voting machines worked properly.

A random audit of voting machines was done in Wisconsin. The audit showed that the Dominion voting machines worked properly, and only minor issues (i.e. 4 votes were not properly processed in one place) were revealed.

In Arizona, a hand audit was done and “[t]he hand counts verified that the machines had counted the votes flawlessly.” The Arizona Republican Party may be in trouble for filing a lawsuit contesting the election when it knew it's claims were frivolous.

Plenty of audits have done, and they've all shown that that the original results were accurate. Biden won, fair and square.

Meanwhile, the new home of the tin foil hat crowd, Newsmax, admitted that the "facts" that it had been reporting on the Dominion Voting Systems weren't actually facts, and there was no real evidence to back up what they had been claiming as true.

There are two different things. One is the $900 billion covid relief package which is attached to the $1.4 trillion spending bill, needed to fund the government. Trump is intentionally confusing these to win political points with many Americans and undermine McConnell.
