Trump breeds uncertainty. I mentioned in another post how in my biz, we pre-purchased millions of dollars of computer equipment at the end of 2024 because our clients were worried about tariff-induced price increases.
We're seeing an overall slowdown in business because of this. Ongoing projects are fine but new work is slowing as our clients pull back from new investments.
There's no way to adequately plan some of what we do when tariffs are going to be enforced one day, then removed the next. All because of a beautiful phone call. Or not. One month later we do it all over. It's a crap way to do business and it's having a huge impact on some of us.
We'll continue to see consumer confidence drop, hiring slowdowns, all the markers of a pullback into recession due to this continued uncertainty.

We work with North American auto manufacturers. Canada, US and Mexico. And to say their business plan is a sh!tshow would be to diminish the term sh!tshow.
These companies have every supply chain detail micromanaged down to nth degree. But because of one man their business is totally disrupted. Chaos is very bad.

The thing is, these kinds of "fact checks" by NYT and MSNBC and NPR never work because they come across as big "AKTSHUALLY!" type articles. I may be a dying breed, but I am a sincere critic of Trump who also feels legitimate embarrassment for the Democratic party. I don't really know what to do. I did not vote for Trump in 2016 and I did not vote for President in 2024 (I know, it is ALL MY FAULT!!!), but I have personal principles that I wasn't going to cross. Like someone else said, I feel homeless right now because the Democrats do not represent me with their weird leftist policies and mindlessness cringe. I am not a leftist. I want a balanced budget. I believe the government's #1 job is the safety of it's citizens, above all else. Both parties are failing at that, by the way... Monsters on both sides.

factchecks don't work because trump has no shame and his political party is a cult. He doesn't care about lying and his people prefer to be lied to 24/7 like North Koreans, East Germans, Soviets, etc.

For me, the scales weigh massively in favor of the Ds. D mistakes are much less damaging to the nation than R mistakes.
