I wouldn't say its guaranteed. Nothing is guaranteed in life. The Vice President needs to count something resembling a certified electoral ballot. And they must formally reject any ballots/certificates they don't like. Furthermore, whatever certificates the VP decides to count have to add up to a majority (whether that be 270 or 232 or some other number, depending upon the circumstances) to find the actual winner. And then the VP has to gavel the final count into the record. Again, these are basic 12th Amendment rules that have been there for generations and everyone understands them.
It is humorous to think that Republicans are pitching legal battles with their state led legislatures and Governors to change the certification rules at their state level. The certification was simply a ceremonial process where you tallied up the votes. Just look at the bottom of the excel sheet and you are done. Yet the GOP is trying to make it where it is whether you like the winner and if not, and that determines if you certify.
They are forgetting that the Vice President Kamala Harris is the ultimate decider. So if you want to change what the certification really is, then she gets the final call to do the same.
Dems have far more lawyers than Republicans. If the Republicans did anything illegal with Supreme Court nominees, Dems would have stopped it. The truth is, they did nothing illegal. Your ire should be focused on RGB, who you instead revere. Everybody understands the rules for how appointments take place. You just want different rules to suit your needs at the time. It’s similar to how you whine about how presidents are elected. The rules have been there for generations, and everyone understands them.
Lawyers for Trump are household names for their infamy. They filed dozens of cases about the election that were all thrown out for lack of evidence, drafted fake elector documents, defended him for multiple crimes, and many have pled guilty for their own crimes in his name. Maybe you can cite why you think Democrats have more lawyers.

If Republicans had lost 2 elections in 20 years, but won the popular vote, they would be screaming to change the Electoral College system. Isn't this obvious? The process to change this is difficult, so it will probably have to affect both parties negatively for a change to be made.

RBG's sin was to be too proud to resign when her health was failing and the Ds could have replaced her with a like-minded justice.
Instead she hung on through her bad health, died suddenly and was replaced with a radical republican. As a result Dem concerns have been damaged and the minority party has come to dominate the supreme court and tell the majority party how to live.
RBG does deserve our ire.
But not as much as does Mitch for unethical, undemocratic scheming.

the rest of the world knows we are walking into a pit of fire with trump. Even the conservatives in the UK are smart enough to see through the orange haze.
