For now, however, I recommend that you just contemplate, like most thoughtful and patriotic Americans are doing, whether CISA's (Krebs) claim of a secure, uncompromised election system, is credible, when it has become clear that CISA's entire mission has been an embarrassing and catastrophic failure for almost half of its existence.

Krebs may or may not be credible, but we don't have any compelling evidence that his statement is not credible. In fact, we have hand recounts in several jurisdictions that support the essential correctness of the vote counts, thus supporting Krebs' credibility.

Trump's statement on the other hand is objectively false, nor is this particular statement unique in that regard.

At this point reasonable people must at least entertain the idea that Russia has something on Trump. He has repeatedly defended Russian and Putin in the face of contrary evidence, and today's tweet was particularly egregious.

Separately, the not-very-bright Lin Wood, an attorney trying to fight courtroom battles for Trump down in Georgia, signed his verification in one of his Georgia suits as follows:

Pursuant to 28 U.S.C. §1746, I declare and verify under plenty of perjury that

the facts contained in the foregoing Verified Complaint for Declaratory and

Injunctive Relief are true and correct

For the non-lawyers, "plenty" should have been "penalty". But in this case his mistake likely makes his verification more accurate, as he probably did include "plenty" of perjury in his claims.

It's true. The Mormon message has survived Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, and even flourished after their departure. So the Christian message can probably survive Trump as it's nominal leader. It's possible Christianity can even do pretty well when Trump dies. Maybe even return to its 1950s heyday? It would take a lot of work and a degree of re-branding, but it's possible.

Christians haven't done themselves any favors by being the most prominent group flouting COVID-19 restrictions and plain commonsense all "in the name of the Lord."

He is also pushing this huge demonstration on 1/6 in Washington that he says will be crazy. He doesn't say peaceful, he says it will be "crazy".

Are you saying it's an actual danger that people should take seriously? Because whenever I pointed out that was Trump's goal, I'd get mocked, called delusional and told it was an absolute impossibility Trump could stay in power. You may have been one of those telling me that. Are you changing your tune on this? You see some possibility of this now? If not, why call this dangerous and why even post this?

(I don't think I used the words "overthrow the government" - I suggested Trump would try to stay in power using whatever resources, including the military and law enforcement, that he could pull together as President, and that it was a non-trivial possibility he could remain in power.)

I will admit, we are f'd becuase we have no leadership in a time with a world pandemic, enormous cyber hack, economy on the brink, the list goes on, but the end of that is in sight.

He actually believes the garbage he peddles. Which makes him an amazingly good salesman, but the worst president of modern times.

And now, very dangerous. What if you truly believed the other party had stolen an election and you were commander in chief, head of the executive branch, entrusted with enforcing laws? And you felt it was your responsibility to restore democracy? What would you do?

You'd probably try to use martial law to stop the steal, is what you'd do.

The question now is who Trump will get to go along with him.

We think everyone will laugh at him.

We don't know that. Americans are not special...they will become lawless fanatical anti-democracy fighters just like people in every nation have at some point.

Okay maybe you are talking back from the ledge but actually not, because, not to parse words, what I said was correct. I said that he has crazy and dangerous attempts to overthrow the government. I don't think he has a chance to do this but many of the things he CAN do are dangerous. Suggesting that his 1/6 huge Washington demonstration crowd will be crazy is dangerous talk. Declaring or more accurately trying to declare martial law, even if unsuccessful, will fire up the crazies. Anything Trump does, even if shot down, makes our government less stable and is prone to stir up the crazies.

So yes his crazy attempts to overthrow our government are dangerous even if they can't be successful. Trump after all has millions in his cult.

the difference is that in this country, people in general have too much to lose, and even more so in the case of the leaders. the status quo is too well off. Nobody or almost nobody wants to jeopardize that. Even the middle class that has lost ground is better off than they were a few generations ago.

We are in a sh!tstorm with no leadership. No transition to one that could take the realm. Cyber attack of epic proportion infiltrating god knows what.

it's not economic, it's cultural...the Trumpists feel they have everything to lose...they think the country will turn socialist, guns will be taken away, bibles will be outlawed, black people will tell them what to do, and their boys will be ordered to wear dresses.

I'm serious. The Trumpists think they are fighting for their 'way of life.' People will do desperate things when they believe that, they are told to act by political leaders, and they are heavily armed.
