I think the only way the EC goes away by Constitutional change is if Texas goes permanently blue. If it does, 15 million R voters will suddenly be disenfranchised and the GOP may want to have them count in presidential elections.

Add them to the 6 million R voters in CA, and you get a very big number of R voters who the GOP might want to have votes that count.

If TX goes blue, there is no chance ever for an R to win the WH with the EC structure.

If we go on popular vote, there's at least some chance.

So that's one thing. Wait and work on turning texas blue. .

The other is that pact, which is interesting

Constitutional amendment is not the way to go. Even though the odds are still slim the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact has a better chance of happening. That would get rid of the EC without any change to the constitution.

I don't care if poll watchers, signature auditors, etc stand 10ft, 100ft, behind a barrier etc as long as the STATE agreed on that process. You do remember state's rights Rigged? Isn't that one of the core tenets of the GOP?

The STATE created the process. If there was an issue ya think it would have come up before now huh?

Why should or would the poll watchers be given more access than what is required by law?

Anyway, it applies to both sides, but it's only the losers who are complaining.

That whole thing is really just there to make people believe that it can/will happen. Bottom line is that you need states to give up power. And human beings do not give up power willingly.
