We were told the development of a Coronavirus vaccine might take years and shortly after the election I think 4 drug companies announce that they all had very successful vaccines. Yeah - no announcement before the election of there impending successes but all four companies all announce just days after the election.

The Trump presidency has been one of the worst in history.

I'll give you the no wars, although that's not really the end of the story.

Stock market is up, just as it was under Obama and virtually every president. Unclear how much credit, or blame, the president gets for the stock market.

Deficit is through the roof. The Republicans used to say this was bad.

Trump had nothing to do with the Pfizer vaccine, the first one to be approved. Pfizer wasn't part of Warp Speed and didn't take the government's money. Also, the UK beat us to a vaccine, so again it's unclear what impact, if any, Trump had in getting the vaccine developed and approved.

Foreign policy has been a disaster. We've lost stature, and influence, in the world. We are no longer a leader, thanks to Trump. Our allies don't trust us and, more importantly, don't do what we want them to do. I give credit to Trump for trying to talk to the NK guy, but it looks like Trump got taken advantage of there, and NK is still building nukes. Iran is building nukes. Russia has been laughing at us for 4 years, and now has more influence in the Middle East.

Trade deficit is up. China beat us in Trump's trade war. American farmers still declaring bankruptcy in record numbers. Coal miners are still looking for work. Manufacturing is going to Vietnam instead of China. Trump updated NAFTA, that's probably a good thing and was needed after the 20 or so years it had been in place.

Covid. 300K dead while Trump played golf and told us that it was no problem. "One day it will just magically disappear ", because sticking your head in the sand is easier than actually working to solve a problem. Trump's inaction shredded our economy.

And we've gone from the world's leading democracy to a country where, for the first time in 244 years, there are concerns about the legitimacy of our election. Whether there would be a peaceful and orderly transfer of power used to be question left for the banana republics and third world countries, but thanks to Trump we're now part of that group.

There's violence in the streets attributable at least in part to Trump. Look at what happened over the weekend in DC, with his supporters.

I'm not a pessimist and I think the country can and will recover from the last 4 years. But there's no doubt that Trump's one term in office has left the country in worse shape than when he took office.

The 'no wars' argument is not really true

Trump has dramatically increased the drone war. Civilian fatalities in Afghanistan are rising and much higher than during the obama years.

So it depends on how you define war. And some of those deaths were casued by the US-sponsoreed Afghan air force.

I'd say the US killing innocent people at the highest rate yet = war.

My least favorite anti-Obama argument is that Obama killed people in the middle east. The amount of drone strikes actually increased over Trump, and he supplied weapons and such to various Middle eastern groups.

I didn't really feel like going into this point in depth. But you have civilian deaths in Yemen caused by our weapons that Trump sold to Saudi Arabia. You have Iran feeling more belligerent and cornered. You have advanced weapons systems being sold to UAE. We've antagonized the Palestinians. And we're leaving a power vacuum in the Middle East. All conducive to more war.

I think it is true, however, that Trump is the first President since I don't know when (Jimmy Carter maybe) not to deploy American troops anyplace new.

There are at least 30 moderate Democrat senators and the Republican senators to block A.O.C. and the rest of the looney left. Or do think Biden is King and A.O.C will pull the puppet strings?

Trump wants to burn the place down because he is hurt that he lost and may face further consequences.

He has no interest on what is good for America.

i'll concede that if you look you will find incidences of fraud or attempted fraud in every state. But would you concede that the number of cases in those places are small (less than 100 and often just a handful ) ? Fraud has happened in every election but the system is as such thay coordinated fraud on a scale that could affect an election is impossible. And then there is the idea that all fraud is being done in favor of Biden. The few cases that have been identified have been fairly even for who has benefited. And correct me if I'm wrong the few cases of fraud in 2016 were actually in favor of Trump.

As to your point about the dems in-fighting. As a registered independent and a moderate thinker it will be interested to see how Biden deals with a voice as loud as AOC. I can see why she scares conservatives: tough young woman who is he'll bent in changing the world. The scariest thing for the right is that her thinking basically represents a significant portion of the 20 something's in this country. Seems radical to yall but AOC is the future of politics in America. As a teacher I see dozens of these like-minded individuals graduating high school each year. They are coming .

Add to that leaving a power/military presence vacuum in parts of the middle east, totally on the fly with no clear plan. Yeah, that can only go well.

The country will be fine. Trump is a populist, and populism lasts ONE election cycle. Many Trumpers have already declared they will never vote again because of this Biden win. Many of them are demonizing the GOP and saying they are not really Republicans but just FOR Trump. That's it. It's over. The cult has had its leader's head cut off (figuratively of course). Neither Trump nor any of his idiot children will sniff the White House again (too early to put Baron in that prediction yet, and he's too young to yet say he's an idiot).

Getting back to normal is what happens Jan. 20. Normal doesn't mean perfect, but the absolute chaos will be gone. The denying of science will be gone. The attacking of our Constitution will be gone. The nepotism will be gone. The hiring of incompetent people will be gone. The ignoring of political and societal norms will be gone. Decency will be restored to the Office of the Presidency, and the focus will once again be on policy and not personality. It is a win for America and the world. While Biden will likely not be known as one of the best Presidents (unless something really bad happens that he properly oversees), he IS the most important elected official so far in my lifetime because his election got rid of the biggest danger to our Democracy since the 1860s.

The first two states to send in electoral votes were VT and TN.

in both the vast majority are white and rural.

Not poor states - average household income is $82k in TN and $95k in VT.

You'd expect them to vote similarly, right?

Nah. The vote totals were completely inversely flipped.

TN: 61% for Trump

VT: 66% for Biden

I guess it's like religion...99% of Saudis don't find their way to Islam independently...you do what your parents do. TN is right wing so it stays right wing. VT is left wing so it stays left wing.
