It was in a row several times over, my breaks were just a littel longer than Nedd's. What's the difference? The point I am making is that , not being in a race, he could choose his own timetable. And my hobby resulted in some actual podium placings at national level, so yeah, worthwhile hobby if that's what you call it
You are just jealous that Nedd is way more popular than you. Even though both you and Nedd are foul-mouthed, Nedd has something you don't: Charisma. That's how Nedd has a huge fanbase while you have the haterz in this thread.
Really now...ad hominem, the master of sarcasm finally cracks. I could report it you know, but show your worth
Are you blind? Samsung, Puma, Lynx, Mitre 10, 7 Eleven, Mobil, Grill'd, Sydney Water, and Foxtel. Some of the biggest companies in Australia. At this point this thread is just wilful ignorance.
I think he ran 1609.34 K, if you are fine with all the lane violations and what we couldn't see on the weird camera angles and the illegal pacing.
This whole operation was very unprofessional. Most 5k's have better time keeping and all 12/24 hour races have web links where you see all runners at real time crossing mats and gaining laps, with accurate counts at all times.
But it doesn't matter, this charity run will not count for anything, unfortunately.
And the missed laps, and the 4hr master laps that came out as 2hrs etc, things actually seen on the stream by someone just checking in now and then..
...but on the ABC News now, "he finishes 1600km inside 2 weeks", as if that was the goal all the time. No comparison of where that places him, even if legit. You wouldn't highlight a marathon WR attempt with " Finishes inside 2:30", but hey this is the Tiktok age and nevermind his personal fame and wealth he'll get, "he did it for the homeless"......The end justifies the means.
What about a half marathon world record attempt that finishes just inside world champs marathon pace.
With narciscism lurking below, the kid like many others, just loves sports even if not good enough, overshadowed by the studs who are 'good at everything' and get all the girls. Then some of them are intellectually good as well, 'how can it be fair' , these bullies are only liked for their achievements, no one cares about me.
He 'ends up' a tradie, but he wants more. But everyone can run, right? How about I run 50 marathons in a row, maybe I will get some respect then. Wow, it seems to work, lets run across Australia, I've heard of ordinary people doing that. "Get a charity mate, they will love you more"..."what if I can't"..."don't worry no one is watching, they don't care". "Wow , I love this..people think I'm a hero, where are all those bullies now in their 9-5 jobs, wowsers"
"what's next?" "have you heard of Kouros, just some random Greek who ran 1000miles in 10 days, surely you can break that.""
So after 50 pages of “he’ll never make it” we now have “it isn’t even difficult.”
This is one of the most demented (running related) threads in LRC history.
All you can do to make it seem like you have a valid argument is to totally misrepresent what the opposition say. Only the scummiest of people do that.
Complete willful ignorance of the core tenant of achieving a goal is to prepare. This includes adequate training. The complete immaturity and disrespect to the running component of this challenge, makes it really not that impressive. Grit, determination, pushing the body through immense pain is all admirable however totally unnecessary for a prepared athlete.
Its like saying I am going to fight Mike Tyson and beat him. I go to two training sessions at the local PCYC. Through a massive marketing campaign, having a relatable personality to the everyday man and a team unwilling or unable to convince me that I am delusional, I somehow get to fight Tyson in Primetime at Madison Square garden. I Get completely Ko'd however take a few more punches that many thought before I go down.....I then frame it as, I had a crack! That's all I was trying to do!
No, I would be wreckless, dangerous and completely unprepared. It just not that impressive IMHO.
I want to teach my kids to shoot for the stars but that requires dedication, hard training and respect for what you are shooting for.
I’m going to add a new voice into a discussion which has pretty much been run into the ground anyway.
I’ve recently (2 years) started ultrarunning and have been so impressed with how supportive the community and sport is as a whole.
The past two weeks have completely changed that.
Ned Brockmann, is he the GOAT? Not a chance.
does he have a big engine? Absolutely. world records are set to be attempted. That’s what makes them incredible achievements. with out a doubt Kouros’ record was incredible. And it was completed by an incredibly gifted runner. Was Ned naive to think he could break it? Yes. Does that make him a bad person for trying to attempt it? No.
on the runfluencer tag. Would you rather your runfluencer be making money off sponsorships, or making money off sponsorships AND raising money for charity? A lot of money by the way.
the truth is, Ned wouldn’t have raised 3 million dollars for charity if he didn’t have a profile. And next time he tries to achieve something, he’ll raise more for charity due to his profile. He ran 1000 miles in 12.5 days. Raised 3million for charity, so far, and inspired countless Aussies to try and do something hard to raise money for causes they believe in.
This community should just take a step back and think about everything. You don’t have to react poorly to every comment or situation. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But remember, these are real people out there. Ned’s spoken at length about his mental health.

HOW DARE HE BE IN PAIN RUNNING 1000 MILES AROUND A TRACK?! PURE NARCISSISM! The LetsRun crew have prevailed once more without the slightest hint of bitterness!

You really deny that you would cuss like a sailor if you saw Nedd at the track?

'I'm Nedd Brockmann and I'm running 1000 miles in 10 days'
Not even close to making it, he missed by 61 hours, over 25%. Plus however much he missed by non compliance, non race, the miraculous medical rejuvenation, the tangents on the bends, the outside assistance.
The real outcome will come from the extend of damage to his body, internally and muscukoskeletally.
Anyone can pick whichever side they like, but the cult building and fund-raising is marketing genius. The real star of the show, is his promotional company.
On the other side the run was an undeniable farce, the goal was a complete joke, and the preparation shockingly amateur given the resources.
Full credit to Nedd for his effort during the event, he really could transform from influencer to high level domestic ultra marathoner if he prepared properly and competed in races.
The greater good suggests he keeps doing what he's doing, and we learn to accept the benefits and continue pushing for integrity and accountability.

Great idea re you running 50 marathons in a row for charity, let me know how I can donate.

that in itself is worth a conversation.
Someone that's balanced and makes sense? What's next Cockerell taking his William Grudge posters off his bedroom walls?

Don’t forget TikTok! They were all event partners signed up to support before NB commenced running. Some of them publicly donated $100k last night along with a few smaller amounts along the way. At this stage the commonwealth bank is the only other corporate to donate $100k. Interestingly they donated late in the piece to Hugo’s uncomfortable challenge and not Nedd’s run.
Nedd Brockmann is gearing up for his next challenge, and we want YOU to be part of it. From October 20th to 29th, we're asking all Australians ??? including workplaces, schools, gyms, and groups of mates ??? to join Nedd's Un...
