Idaho state meet is this Saturday. It will be at Eagle Island, just like NXR.
Recap of what's going on in the state:
CDA got a perfect score at their districts, and even taking out their top 7, they still would have won. That being said, there are only 3 teams (yes that includes CDA) in their district for 6A. Still a fantastic showing.
Rocky Mountain won the boys title in their much more competitive district (35 over Boise's 75). They also won the JV race with 18 points so have some decent depth, but not the kind that should matter at NXR. It seems as though the boys races were generally all out, no one obviously was tempoing it.
Rocky's girls won the district over solid Timberline and Capital teams (both regionally ranked by Dyestat. Rocky was not). Boise looked like they held back for 4th, so I still think they are the best team right now.
Predictions:
CDA will win the boys individual title with Max CS. Nate Stadtlander, Zack CS, Wyatt Carr, Cody Lucas, and Jack Sheesley will fight for the 2-6 spots and depending on who ends up where, the team scores could switch around quite a bit. Everyone mentioned will have at least an outside chance to individually qualify for NXN in a few weeks.
CDA will win the team title with ~30 points. Rocky will come second with 60-70 points, and then Boise will be third with around 100. Mountain View could surprise people and get 2nd or 3rd if the stars align. As things stand: CDA will auto qualify for NXN. Rocky will be a dark horse to get an at-large. Boise and Mountain View will be top 7-10 teams in the region.
For the girls, there are some dogs. Watch out for Paisley Taylor to win state and possibly get an individual spot to NXN. Hallie Heemeyer, Lily Sullivan, and Audrey Orme are the top runners respectively for Rocky, Capital, and Boise, and are all of a similar skill level. Who beats who could have big implications for the team score.
Boise will win the team title with ~50 points. Rocky will have ~60. Capital and Timberline with have ~80 each, then there will be a huge gap. All of these teams should place between 3rd and 8th at NXR. I doubt that any of them could beat Lincoln and Jesuit, but there is a small possibility that the winner of the state meet will go on to auto-qualify for NXN.
