Interesting comment. I don't agree though. I think there are many social psychological factors that affect willingness to act in an ethical way. If you feel ethics are not important to your group (work, social, extended family or whatever) you will be less likely to act in an ethical manner. This happened with the trump people.

If you feel ethics are important to your group you are more likely to act ethically. I think most want to be ethical.

I am using the term "integrity" to refer to being willing to do the right thing, regardless of personal cost and regardless if anyone will ever understand that you did the right thing and reward you with respect (or more). If someone does expect to be rewarded for doing the right thing, this has nothing to do with integrity but is a simple selfish act, cloaked in a blanket of "look how wonderful I am".

And I stand by the opinion that integrity is very, very rare.

Acting ethically If you feel ethics are important to your group is nothing more than conforming and benefiting from such conformity. Nothing wrong with that. But it is not notably impressive either.

Of course, that doesn't make it lack utility. If we can create structures/systems/norms that reward "ethical" behavior we are all better off. But it also doesn't change the fact that people will act in whatever way they think will benefit themselves 99% of the time.

You should try meeting new people. I do not think that integrity is rare at all among 'regular people.' My best friends are honest to a fault.

However, indeed, many politicians seem to lack integrity and a conscience. I wonder why. I would think they chose their career because they had some ideals and grand plan to contribute something of value and to improve the life for their constituents. At some point, things changed and they sold their souls.

We voted for him because he is better than Trump, and we expect that he and his appointees will do a better job than Trump and his appointees. So how does someone's DNA get on her dress if it isn't from blood, saliva (doesn't stain) or semen (yup)? If there is other people's DNA on the dress (how? claimed by who?) then it isn't incriminating for Trump's DNA to be there - just one of the crowd. A normal exchange of bodily fluids. Really? Although it does show he lied about meeting her. And if it isn't incriminating then he has nothing to lose by providing samples of his DNA.

But the truth is that if his DNA is on her dress it was from his semen. Proof of sexual assault. So that's why he won't provide samples. But the noose tightens for the "p*ssygrabber" after January 20.
