While President Trump certainly could *try* to pardon himself (for crimes against the United States), I believe SCOTUS would reject that 9-0. Especially the "originalists" on the Court should reject it: The Founders were fundamentally against the concept of anyone's being above the law, precisely because they rejected the idea of an untouchable monarch.

It's not required man. Much like commas, many use-cases of hyphens are stylistic choices used to better convery whatever it is you are saying, and to reduce any chance of leaving the reader with an ambigous interpetation of your words. It ain't breaking any rules to not use it in most scenerios though.
