I think Florida and North Carolina are states where the majority prefer Democrats but have deep seated Republicans in office that are good at keeping their incumbency and working the system to keep Republicans elected.
In some cases it's voter suppression and in other cases it's voter confusion.

To be fair, and I understand that's not your style, it's impossible to say how much Russian interference in the election affected the outcome, but evidence of the allegation was sufficient for multiple grand jury indictments to be passed down. This is a much higher bar than anything we've seen in the current legal maneuvering.

Apples and oranges, Hillary made a concession speech and Obama invited Trump into the Whitehouse for a gracious transition of power. They did what they needed to do to formally respect the vote of the people our electoral process . Trump, the ass, did not do any of that. You know that.
I have no problem with liberals complaining that Trump wasn't president for everyone. I would have no problems with conservatives complaining about Biden not being president to all (they would be wrong of course). I have no problem with anyone thinking unfair tactics and lies (but not widespread purposeful vote count cheating) were used to get elected.
I also think Trump was pretty clear during the last 4 years that he was mostly the president for his supporters, not for everyone. He was a divider.
I know you know all of this. Its ok for you to admit Trump has lied and damaged the confidence in our electoral system. I find the social psychology factors of the Republican leadership and of course cult members to be so steadfast in their denial of reality, disappointing, but also to be quite fascinating.

Their main predicament is that they publicly rode his popularity knowing he was a POS that would go away some day. There are way too many Rs who ran and won pretty much just on being trumpers. So a whole bunch of them are not just going to pretend nothing happened and start being RINOs, they will continue to revere him publicly, especially in the states he won convincingly. We are witnessing a fork in the party and boy do I hope it's destructive.

I have been flooded with Parler messages from "fellow GS trumpers" that are going to boycott. It's a serious movement and I even helped organize one of the trumper rallies lol. The logic just defies gravity, lol. They seriously think they can rescue trump by forcing the GOP's hand in these Senate races. These people feel betrayed by the GOP since apparently they didn't come to trump's rescue when he needed it the most, even though he delivered them nothing but wins over the last 4 years. These people have forgotten that there is actually some law and order left and there is no way trump can stay in power. But hey, anything to protect their president right?

I bet the old GOP guard is absolutely terrified of him announcing he will run. It will put them in the worst position.

Trump's #1 goal is always to make more money, so that's his highest priority.
Trump is fleecing the m/gas day and night, and that has to continue for the long run no matter what happens in elections.
And really, the old guard GOP is almost irrelevant...they've been pushed out by the trumpists. Just saying you were connected to the Bushes is an insult now among the m/ga set. The R party is m/ga owned and operated.
An exception might be those intriguing R senators Collins Murkowski Sasse Romney. If they choose to vote with the Dems once in a while they would be able to conquer a lot of Trumpist territory. And lead Mitch around by the nose.
I read something in a link on Facebook (so it must be true) that McConnell's status as majority leader is more fragile than some think. The position isn't called out in the Constitution, and has only existed since the 1920s. Whatever power that is there comes at the consent of the President of the Senate, who will be Kamala Harris. The gist of it was that since those powers aren't spelled out in the Constitution, and only exist due to a ~100 year old tradition, they could be removed and legislation could be advanced without him. No idea if any of this is true or not, but it would be interesting if they explored it. Most of this was within the context of getting administration officials confirmed.
