The original inhabitants of the area we call Israel were the Canaanites as depicted in the OT. The Canaanites were descended from Canaan, the son of Ham & grandson of Noah.
The Arabs were for the most part descended from Ismael who was Abraham's son from Hagar. Isaac was the son whom God had promised the land of Israel would go to.
Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt and freed them from slavery. After Moses died, Joshua was then tasked by the Lord to then take the over the Land that was promised to Abraham, Isaac & Jacob- but occupied by the Canaanites.
As for Muhammad, he wasn't even born until around 570 AD long after the time of Moses which was around 1400-1300 BC.
