what do we think this position will pay. should be 6 figures to make it livable in socal, right?
You must be new here! 6 figures? haha
I know that's not common for a lot of places, but just for cost of living its got to be near that. Plus I think there are more high-level D3 schools paying that range than people think.

People are sleeping on other divisions and opportunities. So many DI positions will classify themselves as stepping stones. Better find you a job you can live off of comfortably. Athletic departments have made the profession a massive joke.
I am curious as to what this will do to mid majors in the next 3-5 years.
Be the main schools for track and XC. When P5 schools have to start paying football players they’ll stop subsidizing Olympic sports. Much more likely P5 schools divest or cut track.

It won't change much. The top teams will still be top teams. There's a lot of great coaches out there. Mid majors will still continue to surprise people. It may allow top programs to specialize event to event but in the end you can add tons of coaching, but you still need to add talent.
Can anyone explain why you'd split these? What if a competent coach wanted to take over both genders?
You would want to split it so one person doesn’t have to manage as many athletes. Lots of top teams do this. And a lot of the teams that don’t do this on their website still do this, the head coach coaches one gender and the assistant does the other one.
