The Democrats can’t compete against the Republicans when they are playing this completely different game with different rules. Either the standard for the Republicans changes or the Democrats start swimming in the mud puddle too.
I don’t see how the standard on the right is going to change do any of you? The worse things get (healthcare, jobs, divisiveness) and the more our Democracy depreciates the more Republicans commit to their vote. They keep voting against their own interests and can’t be persuaded to stop.
I also don’t see the Democrats switching strategy and playing swampy games. Remember they too want to keep their jobs and it seems playing it safe is enough. They’re too scared and unmotivated to dig a bit deeper and fight the good fight. It always feels like they concentrate most of their energy on keeping the big tent together and appearing to be morally superior. They also don’t find or produce useful idiots like the Republicans do (e.g. Bush, Trump) to give them cover while they break with tradition and demolish the opponent.
The pendulum will keep swinging and we all will keep losing.

After trump I don't think they can even threaten with impeachment talk... nothing Biden does will even get close to being ethically worrisome in comparison. But they sure will continue pretending Dems are destroying the country and trump will keep yelling on social media and perhaps even still retaining authority. And remember, most Rs think this election is being stolen.. they may still be angry enough about it to turn out in good numbers.
I read somewhere a while back that Stacy pretty much believes there is no way to convert any conservatives so the only viable strategy is to register new Dems and mobilize the rest. That's working in GA, something like 800k new registered Dems since 2016. But as far as mobilizing the rest, I'm not sure Dems are doing a great job. Trump mobilized Dems and many Rs to vote for Biden this time, but look at the House results... Dems suck.

Indeed magats may want revenge for the "russia hoax" impeachment and the GOP would comply if so. They could of course just make some $hit up and run with it.
