Official LRC President Donald J Trump Thread

I fully agree he's not some master salesman. I've been trying to find the right words to describe what he is good at. Here's my take.

He's a narcissistic binary thinker and evil person, one who happened to have gotten a huge inheritance. He's not book smart, he's not good at deal making (sorry this is not up for debate), he lacks basic reasoning (e.g. nuking hurricanes), and he's certainly not intelligent enough to learn from his mistakes. But trump has one strength - he knows there are a lot of people who are dumber than him and who fall for a con easily. The latter is something his father taught him and he grew up seeing and doing.

Both his limitation and his luck, before running for POTUS, was that he didn't have a big enough audience. Those being conned were limited to his tenants and people who dared invest with him. He also never got too close to the sun because he was dealing with a limited NYC audience and didn't make that many enemies. However, becoming POTUS gave him the ultimate stage overnight. The con naturally extended to the whole country. And of course, sitting in the WH immediately gave him more credibility and legitimacy. That's not brilliant salesmanship, that's a stroke of damn luck. He couldn't have pulled that off in any of the previous elections in recent history and if he had one good neuron in his orange head, he would have run away with re election easily. Instead, he might be in for a miserable remainder of his existence because he was way too stupid and incompetent to keep up the con.

Now does he have intelligent supporters? Of course, but those few are opportunists. They don't give a damn about him beyond what he can do for them. Mitch, Lindsey, the MyPillow guy, yeah they are much smarter and they probably will never get in the kind of trouble he might be in for.

The problem a lot of us "normal" people have when we look at that situation is that we inevitably try to justify someone's perceived success. We all fall for the con a little bit... he had his TV show, his name is on buildings, the model wife, etc... Objectively trump has been much more a failure than successful, but the system has kept him afloat (e.g. ability to eliminate total ruin via bankruptcies). Without special rules for the rich he'd be toast. Had he not been born with money and influence, he would have gone to a good school (for whatever that was worth), he would have not had connections, and he certainly would have not had any structure or platform to con as many people. He would been a small time hustler who would get thrown in jail every now and then when caught.

Trump will be dropped like a hot rock soon after Biden takes over. The Republican Party, such as it is, will back whoever the next champion is for them, but whoever it is will not be as bad a person as Trump. There just isn't anyone out there like him in that way. Unfortunately I don't think they will embrace someone like John Kasich. It will be someone with some crazy nationalist views, but whoever it is will be smarter and will work more than Trump has...and they won't be as criminal.

Why would they regret it if they are winning like this? Sure they won’t win forever, but let’s face it, most will keep their jobs and the open corruption is quite fruitful.

I hope you are right. Not long ago a lot of people thought Bush Jr was the absolute threshold for incompetence and recklessness. There are worse people than trump out there. We just have to hope they don’t find their way to the GOP nomination.

He spends the next couple of years tweeting about everything that he can, he'll take credit for all sorts of things because he laid the foundation for them. He'll hold rallies in places that like him, and fleece those people for as much money as possible. He'll keep a stranglehold on the conversation in the Republican party, who's going to run against him? Maybe someone steps up. But he'll have 72 million potential voters lined up already, lapping up the crap he spews out for the next four years. This doesn't end until he goes completely senile or passes away.

Because Trump has gone out of his way to lie about his height and weight--even getting the WH doctor's to tell obvious lies about his physical dimensions. Ronnie Jackson, MD (former WH physician) said Trump is 6 foot 3 inches and ~240 lbs.

You know who else had those dimensions during his playing days? Luke Kuechly--former linebacker for the Panthers. Side by side comparison....

FFS, Colin Kapernick was listed as 6 foot 4 inches, ~230 lbs when he was playing. Have you seen Kapernick? Do you really think Trump has the same or even similar physical dimensions of pro football players? Do you really believe Trump's obviously verifiable lies about this?

The reason he is called out / singled out as obese and the others you listed are not are 1) His obvious lies about his weight (and probably height--he is likely shorter and heavier than he says) 2) His tendency to make fun of others physical issues (HRC is "not well", Biden has "dementia", etc. etc.). He opens himself up for ridicule by being an @sshole about other peoples physical appearance and physical heath.

It was a privilege to engage in discourse with you Dems/Libs over the last 2(?) years. I am not sure when I first joined the thread but maybe about then. Some (Flagpole, Smorburn and Trollminator (at times)) were pretty ridiculous but I enjoyed the conversations with ALL of you. Biden maybe is in and Trump is maybe gone but I am wishing the best for you and your families for the holidays and the future.

I am not aware of anyone worse than Trump out there, and I honestly can't imagine who that would be. Who? I see lots of fanboys and yes men, but I don't see anyone with the narcissism and ego and conman ability and criminal mind that he has. If you know of some, please let me know so I can keep my eye on them.
