A Goddard all time classic - Hes flown across Europe to a lovely sunny seaside city and instead of enjoying the beautiful seaside running paths, in true London Run Club W*nker style he found a park and ran around a 200m loop around a building to try an avoid any elevation. You literally couldn't make it up
I truly do question why people like this even run, they clearly don't actually enjoy going out for a run, they aren't running fast times or competing at anything. Surely you just find something you actually enjoy and move on with your life?
I'm all for bashing this prat's podcast and lack of meaningful discussion or knowledge of the sport, but finding a flat park to do your session is hardly an offence? Would it be more acceptable if he had found a track?
The day before he went for an easy one along the coast to enjoy the seaside running paths. I'd do exactly the same
Its funny because the promenade he ran down yesterday was actually pretty much flat.. Why didn't he do his session there lol.
People love Des Linden so much because she's pretty blue collar and regular. Nothing would be beneath Des; she seems like she would have a good time racing a park run with 10 people. She ran the New York City marathon in 4+ hours last year on a bib she paid for. I am not sure but I think she's doing the same at Boston next month, where she, a former champion of that race, plans to start with the masses and pace her husband to a sub 2:37 finish. Think about that, a former Boston Marathon Champion, paying to race; while some influencer never was is trying to scheme his way into the race for free. People love Des because she actively avoids special treatment; people can't stand influencers as a whole because they expect special treatment.

Where did you read or hear that? That’s amazing
Probably AI slop/lies based on the rest of the post.
There's plenty more hallucinations where that (likely) came from, if that's what you're after.
Cole is locked in now, heart rate hidden! I feel a big pb at Bath half!
burn-out looming. just listened to a podcast when he said hes on the go from 7am til 10pm every night. surely hes not still claiming he actually works for a living while running 3 hours everyday?
not sure how any lady would tolerate a lifestyle like this, zero time to give her any attention and always knackered from his ridiculous mileage. just smashing mileage like he does does not guarantee success
whats happened to Team Makou? very quiet lately....... funny how the physio is a GB silver medal and faster than Elson at 1500m. Worys running bang average indoor 5kms, Astin unsurprisingly flopped in the marathon (2:35, cmon, how is she a pro athlete?!?!). all hopes are on Beattie but he appears to be inconsistent.
tough times for this mob trying to get there contracts renewed

I think he's just found a nich that his posh friends do and he's trying to monitize it. Always amazes me how someone like this spends so much time around runners and thinks it's necessary to hunt out a "flat spot" for 45 mins total run as part of am marathon build up -- like he will need speed to out kick people.
One day they try to find the flattest route possible, the next they try to find the perfect hill for hill repeats, and don't see the irony.
Always thought Bester looked clumsy doing his Japanese u turns, you can see in his drills videos he just has like zero coordination and is just relatively heavy and cumbersome - and in his reels and whatnot of them you can tell he's just rubbish at doing them. Comes to a stop does a ten step 180 about three metres from the turn then runs off again. The point of it is that you can come right to the apex of the turn and use the fact that you only weigh about 55kg to load up your Achilles and standing leg to launch off.
You can see in his photo series the guy that comes in a few steps behind him, actually makes the turn at the turn and comes out ahead. Answers his not sure if it's faster or slower question in the photos
I would love it if Makou sign Ben Felton, he would really energise that group and give them the boost they all need.
Andy get on the phone to Ben's agent Meg and get the contract done.
And also Donato please
As much as he's become a bit of a laughing stock in this thread, he actually has a decent channel and releases informative videos. He did a video about a week ago where he visited his home town in Chittagong (Bangladesh) which was less about running and more about wandering about with "yesss"s and "that's rights" aplenty, but he privated it after a day for some reason.
I've heard that team Makou have signed dental athlete and will be announced in next few days. Apparently loo loo leman offered more money but he wanted the team element to push on to sub 15 5k level

Surprised he’s managed to dislodge himself from Alfie Manthorpe’s chocolate starfish

You're fooling no-one, and you'll never be relevant.

Alright. I've been having a day. [But can you guys tell me this post by Kofuzi...which was originally on Threads]... isn't a bit kinda like creating more division between all runners? Is he joking here?
I think people had pointed out Des Linden had just won Disney (the Hansons and Brooks have/had a very long history with that race actually....it was on our Brooks bonus contract when we raced it).
Granted I consider myself more of a "influencer-coach-sponsored hobby jogger" nowadays (and I never was really a salary based top "pro road marathoner" for Brooks), but in my limited experience pro-sponsored road runners are generally really fighting at the competitive margins when they compete. They seek out big prize money and appearance fees and that usually only comes from big competitive races where place greatly matters and the competition is high. It's a "high pressure" environment and they've dedicated their lives and careers to performing near their full potential on razor thin margins. They've earned their spot "to start at the Front of the line."
Now say that pro runner wants a "fun run" or "tune-up race" like Disney or Honolulu (or a local 5km for charity)? Let them have it! We're all people and runners here. Just because Mike wants to place better and try to win (or considers a race for himself to be a "destination" or "vacation" event from his perspective) doesn't mean it's not going to be competitive sometimes. Too bad!
And I think the real irony is as an "influencer runner-content creator" Mike himself as undoubtable benefiting from certain "elite perks" (that he mentions) like special entry to marathon majors and a "special warm-up area" and "nice starting line position" for his illegal selfie stick. We also don't care that we have "our names on our bibs instead of a number" smh....
One of the best things I ever experienced was meeting Yuki Kawauchi at a race. Imagine if he was told not to show up because it would wreck some influencer's "vacation?" Kofuzi sounds like a typical cranky Dad who dislikes his life...

She's been talking about her Boston plans a lot with Kara Goucher on their podcast called Nobody Asked Us. It's a good listen. She was going to go to Boston then run through Africa in some sort of multi day ultra (guessing geopolitical strife may have cancelled the Africa race). She said she did a small workout with her husband for the first two or three miles of the Disneyworld Half. Then she decided she wanted to race around mile 4 or 5, so locked in from there and ran a 76. She thinks she could've beat the male winner if she had committed to going all out from the start. She also says she'll probably enter and run the US Marathon Trials if she she hits the OTQ standard. She doesn't consider herself a pro on the roads anymore but seems to still be having fun. She's kind of a hybrid influencer/pro these days, I guess.
Before New York, she was clear that she had paid for the bib.
Kara was going to run the 5k, but her son has a race so she's not going to Boston. She wanted to race a 5k in London but she can't find one (she should do a Park Run!).

RTJ claims he has lost ~ 5/10s per Km for 400m reps as per his strava. Also claims he loses fitness at a rate faster than anyone else.
Is there actually any way this is true and if not surely he needs to be seeing a sports psychologist to try and sort it out, i just fail to believe that physically you can lose that much speed/fitness from 1 week out.
I might be completely wrong as I'v never been in the position of a elite/sub elite but as a club runner it would take a few weeks out to dent fitness to this level for me.
