I think that's exaggerating a bit. Most of the usual suspects have admitted the election is over and Trump lost. A small percentage is, as usual, being portrayed as representative of the whole group. I mean even Karl Rove admitted it was over.

A small chunk on the right have recognized Biden as the president-elect. Most are still referring to him as VP Biden.

Not really. In fact we've never been wealthier and more educated in the history of the country. It has much more to do with the construction of these sorts of super identities built on highly intractable issues or traditional identities with political affiliation serving as the base.

I think the ground game was a major factor in overall GOP success this time. A goodly number of Republican volunteers didn't give a fvck about getting or giving the virus and went knocking on doors; for the most part, Dems eschewed the door-to-door stuff and went with phone calls/texts/postcards.

If (a big "if") the virus is under control in 2022, it'll be interesting to see what the Democrats can achieve with phone calls/texts/postcards AND knocking on doors (by which I mean all in-person contacts). I do not think they are automatically condemned to a reprise of 2010.

In the run up to the 2020 election Trump was relatively subdued on immigration and borders. I think that rhetoric worked against the Republicans in the 2018 midterm. Also the pandemic and resultant economic impact were foremost in everybody's mind.

First, the fact that most immigrants in the US are economic immigrants means that the oppressive regime thing doesn't resonate with them as much. Also, we have to separate the mindset and status of an illegal immigrant vs a naturalized citizen. If you're illegal, you cannot vote anyway so it doesn't matter what you think of trump. If you're a citizen, you may care about his anti-immigrant comments if you have family members who are still not naturalized or who are thinking about going to the US. The other thing to take into account is that people who move to the US still carry their own biases with them. They may have already leaned conservative and may be voting Republican because of identity politics. There are other issues, such as the sense of patriotism making them easy targets for right-wing propaganda.

While it might help Dems to have a useful idiot leading them, they can't produce one. I can see a celebrity making it EVENTUALLY, but they would have to be a serious person with a track record. There is no comparison at all between anything on the left and trump/trumpism.

The group that most Christians don't recognize as Christian is probably the Mormons. I have NEVER heard a christian say a Catholic isn't Christian, is that a thing?

L.O.L. I grew up in Latin America in the 50's and 60's; where if you weren't Catholic you weren't a Christian.
