Both tracking systems are indeed equal in quality, when correctly used. So it doesn't make sense to switch to the Garmin instead of the RaceDrone, because that would not provide any additional data

Both devices have the same capabilities in the way the device logs positions, in how it can buffer those data, and in the logging rate.

The mathematical data interpretation (speed calculation) is bullshit for both devices (although differently retrieved, Garmin by software calculation on the server and RaceDrone by the build in accelerometer). Both should not be used as an argument against or in favor of either Sandra or Mimi. It's just a gimmick on both devices (or better: on the representation of the data of both devices). All both devices do is take a gps position every couple minutes, nothing more, nothing less.

The Garmin does not do any math interpolation prior to sending the data to the satellite, it just sends its DeviceId, lon, lat and a datestamp to the satellite, just as the RaceDrone tracker sends the same information over the mobile network.

Well this helps explains why they've been turning the trackers off and taking so long to upload data.

Gary, I'm surprised you think Mimi needs to switch to a Garmin tracker since I think the Race Drone is just fine and both have pluses and minuses. Despite what the other trolls and you may think, there is nothing wrong with the Race Drone. If we want higher frequency updates on the tracker we could just ask them to increase the frequency to 1 minute or similar. The problem we have with Mimi's run is not the brand of GPS tracker they are using but rather them either turning it off or letting the battery die. It is NOT a cellular connection issue as I've repeatedly shown.

I think it's disrespectful to Race Drone by saying Mimi's team needs to use a Garmin tracker when the Race Drone is perfectly fine. We would have had the same tracker issues with Mimi even if she did use a Garmin Inreach initially because they turned the device off.

It doesn't matter if Mimi switches to a Garmin because the trust has been lost. You can only build that back up with more comprehensive proof like non-stop video.

Once again, speed calculations with a tracking device don't make sense and are only a gimmick. When the tracking device only takes a position every 2 minutes, it can only estimate the speed by taking the distance of the direct line. So if you're on a bendy road and do twice the distance in those 2 minutes compared to the straight line, it would still indicate the same speed.

If you want to check speed, look at the gps watch data, the trackers are not intended for that.

Fully agree, and people need to realise what live tracking is useful for and what not (like speed calculations are not). So many posts here where arguments are used that don't make sense (like the 'look how she ran 9m/h here').

I agree here that both the Garmin and the Race Drone should be considered equal and the mistrust of Mimi is caused by HOW her team turned their tracker off or let the battery die and not about the technology.

It doesn't change anything of my suspicions if either a Garmin or Race Drone is used because the suspicion was never about the live tracker speed accuracy. It is many different suspicious things that occurred to build up to where we are and it is a red herring and a distraction for people here and on URC to say they need to switch.
