I guarantee you the second after the election is called McConnell will come strolling out to happily reassure the Republican base not to worry because he will personally make sure that Biden gets nothing done.

That's what they do. They don't write laws, they don't govern. They obstruct and bide their time until the next election

McConnell only cares about delivering to the people who fund him and the GOP coffers. He's already let it be known that he will sit on any Biden cabinet members he deems to leftist.

Normally I'm cynical and agree with this but 3 reasons I have a little hope:

1) McConnell could very well have been dog-whistling and not wanting his base to think he was working with a black guy.

2) (I believe) Biden won't run in 2024, so McConnell doesn't have to worry about making Biden look good.

3) GOP majority in the Senate will be 52-48 at best, and could be 50-50. Any "crossover" by Romney, Collins or Murkowski and GOP won't get their way.

Or everyone might just double down and continue wrestling in the mud.

Think about this. His 2016 win came with a huge *. It took Russia's help, Comey's help, a very disliked and complacent opponent, siphoning of Dem votes from a third party candidate, and a ton of lying to the public and conning.

Throughout his single term, his approval rating never pulled above 50%, not a single time. He took over a thriving economy and stock market but because of his ineptitude he flushed that effect down the toiled with his recklessness on COVID. He embarrassed himself daily, was exposed as a broke and failed businessman, and set himself up for an avalanche of lawsuits. We found out just how inept, corrupt and dumb this guy was. He got himself impeached. And then right at the end he catches COVID, and we know obviously as a result of his poor example and recklessness. There are just way too many negative things to highlight. Perhaps his worst offense other than letting 230k people die on his watch was to aggressively divide the population, which may lead to a catastrophe in the near future.

Then he ends up losing bigly to Sleepy Joe, who barely campaigned and whose strategy was simply to be himself and show a side that is opposite of trump. Trump's popular vote loss exceeds 2016's by 1m votes for a total of 4m and counting. All he had to do was try to be better, try to be a leader and think of other's welfare, just a tiny bit and he would have walked away with an easy win.

Perhaps as a final twist of fate (besides catching COVID), he will lose by exactly the same margin as he beat Hillary.

He is a massive failure.

Turkey neck's mandate has always been to obstruct like hell. With Dems having a generally poor performance this election, Biden will be vulnerable to attack after attack. It is always much much harder to try to fix a problem than to cause many. Biden won't get anything done without the Senate and yes turkey neck knows the pendulum will just swing their way again. It's a hopeless situation, don't fool yourself.

seriously, if the Rs hold the senate, collins, romney, murkowski will be some of the most powerful politicians on the planet. They will own the white house in a significant way, dictating terms on the cabinet and judges.

The optimist in me wants to believe that McConnell also understands that Biden has inherited a difficult situation and there will be plenty of ammunition against the Democratic ticket in 2024 without the need to actively sabotage the administration. Granted though, that a multi-trillion federal coronavirus relief package package probably isn't going to happen.

LOLz FOX news has told staff not to call Biden president-elect. The desperation is off the charts. This is not good for trump supporters.. the right is getting their hopes up that there is still a chance to somehow prevent Biden from becoming POTUS. These people are going to be totally devastated.

Hmm if I recall they were pretty powerful these last 4 years and look where that got us. Nothing will change, they will do what they have been doing to keep their jobs.

I too dislike cynicism, and if anyone can do it right now, it's Joe Biden. But I seriously doubt McConnell will do anything other than fight even the most reasonable request.

It’s pretty obvious that Trump wasn’t going to win. There have only been 5 instances in which a candidate lost the popular vote but won the election. 1824, 1876, 1888, 2000, and 2016.

Only in 2004 did Bush win re-election. It’s statistically improbable for any president to lose the popular vote in the first election and win two terms
