Pretty clear cheating by the Democrats. They stopped counting their votes until republican areas finished counting so they knew exactly what number they had to cheat to.
Is there any merrit to this? I'm not American and admitedly don't know much about the voting process but as a neutral observer the way things unfolded definitely seemed a little suspect to me (which is not to say I'm claiming fraud!).
I'm guessing democrats would say "no way the right are sore losers" and republicans would say "yes obviously they did" So likely there is no point in even asking this lol but I'm interested to know. It definitely seems like mail in votes would be a great place to cheat if one were going to.
This poster was obviously being provocative for who knows what reason, but since I have some insight into the voting process I will try to explain what actually happens:
On Election night, when the polls close, the chief judges at each polling location print out and record the votes that were cast at that station on that day. These are reported to the state Board of Elections. All of the chiefs do this within a couple hours of the polls closing.
Mail-in ballots are handled entirely differently. Those are not tied to a particular voting precinct. When the mail-in ballots are delivered to the Board of Elections, the counting process begins. States tend to report these out in batches- so for example after 50k votes are counted, they will add those to the statewide total that was reported from each precinct on Election Day. This process continues until all mail-in ballots are counted.
In general, Democrats tend to submit a greater percentage of mail-in ballots than Republicans. I don't know why this is, but it's been true for years. In 2020 in particular, pandemic-related concerns led many more people to request a mail-in ballot. Most states modified their requirements for the mail-in ballots so that voters do not need a specific reason for requesting one (such as temporarily living somewhere else, which meant that they can't vote in person). The same trend held true that a greater percentage of mail-in ballots were requested by Democrats.
This means that there was a greater percentage of Republicans at the polls on Election Day because more Democrats submitted their mail-in ballot rather than vote in person. So, the immediate results from Election Day include more Republican votes. These results are reported sooner, so it gives the appearance of a larger Republican advantage. As the mail-in ballots are counted, it likely includes more Democrat votes, so the results change.
Also worth noting that some states start counting mail-in ballots before Election Day while others wait until Election Day. So in some states this may not be as true.
While it's true that mail-in ballots are more open to fraud than in-person voting, states do attempt to verify the authenticity of the mail-in ballots. This takes time to get right, which is why mail-in ballot counting is slower. Basically, you can have it quickly, or you can have it accurately, but you can't have both. Hope this helps!
