For what it is worth I have a friend who is a poll watcher in Georgia (rural) as well as a few in Erie PA and Lafayette Hill PA who are all stating that turn-out is remarkably low. Folks that have been around for a few election cycles are saying they haven't seen anything like it apparently.
Just an anecdotal comment coming from a high school friend text chain. Not sure how to interpret the data for or against either candidate but did find it interesting.
And here in Greenwich Village the voting stations are empty. Part of it was the new-toy phenomenon, I'm sure: NYS didn't have early voting four years ago, so everyone went to the polls last week. I spent the better part of two hours waiting on line (in NYC people stand on line, not in line); a friend of ours took four hours to cast her vote.
But today I walked by a couple of polling stations in mid-morning, and again in early afternoon, and there was no line. No line outside the building, no line inside: You just walk in and vote.
There was a fair amount of noise about how Trump voters would show up en masse today. Well, of course there aren't many Trump voters in NYC in any case; but if the same thing that "hhw" and I have seen is happening across the country, that might make things interesting. And it would also gainsay the notion that 150 million will vote.
Just another anecdote, though, from one neighborhood in Manhattan.
