I envision somewhere in this country. There's a lonely old sole sitting in his underwear with a negative outlook on life reading these comments and scrolling with rapid fire down arrow clicks.
Its okay little buddy, its okay. one day you will smile and you will actually like someones comment.

Just like the the nerdy cross country person you are.
UCLA - haven't heard anything about if they are staying or going
USC Sprints - most likely looking for another female/minority
UCI - they're under the radar because they're trying to pay an assistant 43k to live in Irvine.
Isn’t it for Concordia- Irvine (CUI) not California- Irvine (UCI).
It is both - 43k for UCI and just under 65k for CUI. Either way both are way too low. Looking at the cost of living around the area you gotta be pulling in closer to 75k-80k if your aren't dual income. Most Cali schools aren't going to pay assistants a livable wage and just hope they have a partner or roommate.
C'mon people. Jobs at 30k,40k, in 2023? The pay in this sport hasn't even gotten better with inflation. Head of programs at 50-60k. With only a handful of jobs opening up and hundreds of people idolizing these positions, this carousel every year seems worthless.
Well said my friend. It will never change unless people start negotiating for salaries and turning down jobs because of low pay.
We say this every year on every thread and while I agree, there is always going to be someone willing to take almost nothing for a foot in the door or a chance to be a college coach because they're desperate.
PROVO, Utah — Mark Robison, the longtime BYU track and field coach who has mentored numerous national champions and over 150 All-Americans, announced that he will retire as BYU’s associate head coach effective end of July, 20...
Will never happen unfortunately. People are desperate enough to take low salaries to get a start in this career field. As long as there’s people like that around, it’ll always be the way it is.
Ridiculously low min qualifications and maxes out @ 60k (granted might be indeed trying to estimate and getting it wrong).
Not even $60k. If that’s not a mistake they must be going for a recently graduated woman for an entry level job. Let all this sink in kids…that’s a DI director of track and field position in one of the more expensive parts of the country.

Yet there will still be 300 applications for that job and that’s why it will stay that way. It’s not until folks get into their late 30s to 40s that they decide enough is enough. I Can make more money.

Would be amazing if we got all the high level coaches to send the AD an email saying that the salary range is horrible… obviously won’t matter but if we got like 200 emails into their box it would be pretty funny. Someone post their email and let’s be the change #projectmayhem
I'm not doubting you, but doesn't it kind of make sense if he's out in Oregon to take over Portland State?
No that would make 0 sense. He’ll make over $100k more to coach at Virginia tech where he has and can be successful. Portland state is horrible and pays very little..
