serious wake up call coming for you when you see what they actually earn. Phoebe gill signed for more than 300k with Puma. there is money is running it just doesn’t go to everyone
where on earth do you pull up figures like this? 300k may be over 6 years but dont go round posting total BS like that.
she had 2 good races, made the olympics and didnt run as well as expected
since then, she hasnt raced. broken by the pressure and multiple stress fractures. now shes at uni posting pics of her on the lash. a tragic case of a girl pushed to hard to young and not mentally capable of handling the attention. shes now a million miles away from a startline yet alone backing up the brief flickers of talent she once showed
no ones giving 300k to someone who is effectively retired until further notice
Josh Kerr’s first contract out of college with Brooks was $4000,000 per annum before any reductions or bonuses. Phoebe Gill ran 1:57 solo as a 17 year old, you can bet Puma would have spent serious budget to ensure she wouldn’t sign with NIKE and in their minds, she was or is the next Keely.
Yes, since signing she’s been injured a lot and likely would have received reductions in her base because of not competing (NIKE are notorious for being the harshest for this) but PUMA have history of paying over the odds for a potential superstar.

her running talent is worth free kit, maybe a retainer for 5k or so if the company have excess budget. the influencing side would be worth more but would likely go to a heavy poster and usually someone attractive
even pros arent on 100k contracts. UK wise, you would be looking at Hodgkinson and Bell would be over that figure, perhaps Asher-Smith. the rest will be well below, McColgan - 50-60k perhaps but shes never going to win anything so theres no real reason to funds Brits to finish 10mins behond the winner of the London marathon
You are so, so wrong here I'm afraid. You've got to stop thinking of these people as athletes and view them for what they are: influencers.
The going rate for an instagram post for a 325k+ follower account is maybe £5k. Double that for high engagement reels (which is almost exclusively what Phily deals in). Same again for a brand focused YouTube video to a 200k follower channel.
Do you think Lulu will get 10 reels worth of content out Phily in a year? Of course they will. She'll be on well over 100k. It's a no brainer.
For comparison, by all reports in the London runfluencer world, Jonny Davies is on £100k with Lulu and he has nothing like Phily's reach, particularly with women.
It's an awful, brutal reality, but the brands (outside of maybe SOAR) simply do not give a s**t about Cottage guys with private instagram accounts who have run 13 high for the 5k. They won't sell anything.
Alfie Manthorpe literally the only one of those 'nearly there' guys who actually gets how the world currently works and is leaning into it...
If Phily is such a big name and a guaranteed money maker for companies then why is she always getting dropped? If she was making them as much money as people in this thread seem to think, she wouldn't ever be without sponsorship.
Because previously she had, or wanted, pro contracts which would have been tied to results.
As an influencer her worth is far more to a company like Lululemon who do not give two hoots about performance but care about her popularity and reach with young women, who see her as 'inspo'. Just see the gazillion fawning comments under her reel announcing her 'pro athlete' deal with Lululemon. [I'm not saying I agree with that, but clearly a lot of people do seem to like her, and that's all they care about]
She clearly likes the way 'pro athlete' as a job title sounds, but that's not what she is or what she's been signed for. She's an influencer.
No influencer likes to be referred to as an influencer. And the "pro" or "elite" label is part of the draw for her audience.
I keep seeing contract figures being thrown around but absolutely no one is posting any sources. Has anyone openly shared what they make or made out of any sponsorship contracts?

How do we know she was dropped by On?Her contract may have been up for renewal, at which point athletes can seek other conversations within a certain timeframe to the deadline. If Lululemon presented the right deal, it’s bon voyage.
Team New Balance Manchester, honestly, they don’t know how to market a piss up in Magaluf to a group of 18 year old Brits, let alone their ‘pro’ team, lol. So no surprises they dropped her rather than putting their heads together and coming up with a good idea of how to utilise her for eyes on them. But I did hear she was a pain in the arse so that likely spearheaded the decision.

Matt drug smuggling Fox is back with a video saying he's going to train for sub 2:15.
-thinks he can do it on 100km weeks no problem -still no accountability for his 5 month stint in jail (doubles down saying the rest of the world takes marijuana lightly, so why shouldn't Japan?) -continues to obsess over his weight (5 months off with a stress fracture taught him nothing) -try-hard, pro-mental health quips all throughout the video to drive home the impression he's a reformed man

Why do you assume she’s been dropped?
Is it not possible she has simply negotiated better deals with different brands as her social media profile has grown?
She’s shifted over the last two years from aspiring Olympian and part time influencer to full time influencer who can still credibly line up on an elite start.
She was never going to negotiate a chunky multi-year pro contract, but she can (and has) do that as an influencer.
She almost certainly chose to not renew with On after negotiating a better deal with Lululemon.
That podcast was more than that. At the end of it, he accused "Mr. Boomshacklacka," as he calls his ex-friend Nick Bester, of doping and provides "evidence" of Bester blowing past doping controls at the finish of the Berlin Marathon when he ran 2:20 (the testers were there for the elite women, not some random dude running 2:20). Then he goes on a rant about how his ex-coach in Boulder was behind the "Let's Run Hate." Didn't he run for Rick Rojas while he was up there; I have a hard time seeing how a guy who appears to still use a flip phone could be behind the bot-fueled campaign Fox says insulted him. Then Fox plugs his pay-to-post forum as better than Let's Run because nobody will be saying anything mean on it. Then he says that "Let's Run posters are in a funny spot, I wouldn't want to be them, let's leave it at that.* After that, he goes on and on about how the only place he can live at the moment is his native Australia. Worth a hate listen!

Not to sound mean, but young women follow other women they want to look like. How many young women want to look like Bowden?
Answer that question honestly and you’ll see why she’s dropped.

He's on the edge of insanity, and I love the little unfiltered outbursts. He seems very triggered by lets run! He must read it though as he was talking about Fry being accused of juicing.

whats your source for his $400,000 deal? seems a lot just for winning an NCAA title, surely you need to be winning a world medal to get that kinda deal.
although it is BROOKS, and no one other than 25min+ parkplodders would be seen dead in a pair of there trainers. very strange how they have one athlete on there whole roster, im sure theres others but they are less relevant than Philly or FENTONNNNNNNNN
Err, quite a lot? And as many other people have said, she probably wasn't dropped, she just got to the end of her contract. Look, I'm not fan of hers but I know a lot of women (and men) who are. Also it's utter bollocks that young women follow women they want to look like. Be more like, maybe. Live the life of (aspirational stuff) maybe. But LOOK like!? I mean, I am a young(ish) woman and if I want to look like every woman I follow.. well... none of them look much like each other for a start.

This seems like a massive generalisation, and it shows a lack of faith in young women. You’re essentially saying that women only follow people they want to look like.
Phily, as annoying as I find her, is undeniably aspirational. She’s living life on her own terms and is both a YouTuber and a sportsperson — two highly aspirational roles in the eyes of many young women. The fact that she doesn’t look like the typical influencer actually makes her lifestyle feel more attainable for the vast majority of young people.
That said, I would argue that she comes across as fake, irritating, and mentally worn down by having to be “wacky” all the time. There is absolutely no way I would want my own kids to do her job. However, brands can easily sell her story to shift fast fashion with a logo slapped on.
I think people need to understand, brands only care about Phily, or any other person they sponsor. as an asset to shift whatever crap their peddling. It's a simple return on spend formula. Case in point, Phily latest "My new sponsor." video, released at the same time, has over double to views of Keely's "breaking the world record" video -- complete insanity!

I still think it’s sad that Scullion has basically packed it in to become a clothes salesman. To think he went from being a pro to copying Ben Parkes, but not doing it as well.
Are Keely and Jakob YouTubers? What about Sesemann and Yee? Are they looking at the likes of Fenton and thinking ‘I need to get in on that as a side hustle’?
Scullion seems to struggle a lot mentally with elite running, performance issues/falling off etc- I’m sure this is more manageable for him.

Tbf I’d rather follow Keely on instagram than Philly but have you ever tried to watch her YouTube? How young and immature she is really comes across and is a bit of a turn off to anyone 25+ with a fully developed brain as it’s silly giggling juvenile stuff. I assume it’s played up as she has to be a bit more serious and ambitious about training than the act on video. One step away from just saying 6 7 and that’s “it’s giving”.

Generally, you hear these types of things casually on the Sunday long run from someone who knows of the subject, then depending on your job and how deep you’re into the sport, you find things out from somewhere more credible, or the horses mouth. I’ll leave my sources at that 😂
Cast your minds back to 2018, Nick Symmonds was Brooks’ star, he’d just retired, so they had to go all in on their flagship athlete to try and sell some Ghost Max 12s or whatever they are. They literally had NO ONE other than Symmonds really.
They did have Des Linden but I’d never heard of her until she won Boston in the rain.
