good authority that the contract well exceeds the £100k/year she earned at ON, that’s direct word from a brand employee
your source is deluded
her running talent is worth free kit, maybe a retainer for 5k or so if the company have excess budget. the influencing side would be worth more but would likely go to a heavy poster and usually someone attractive
even pros arent on 100k contracts. UK wise, you would be looking at Hodgkinson and Bell would be over that figure, perhaps Asher-Smith. the rest will be well below, McColgan - 50-60k perhaps but shes never going to win anything so theres no real reason to funds Brits to finish 10mins behond the winner of the London marathon
Respectfully, the delusion is coming from yourself and honestly, the fact that you think a brand like Lululemon would sponsor her solely on her running talent shows exactly what you don’t understand about the industry, but that’s ok, you’re not alone and it’s part of why and how influencers can make so much more than what you’re in the know about.
There’s resistance to the general running public believing that professionals and/or running creators earn well. Many professional runners don’t earn a great deal after you take away expenses etc, yes, but the examples you’ve given, I can guarantee Keely, Georgia, DAS and Eilish are paid extremely well. I’ll give you an example to tickle your tastebuds for more, Eilish’s London Marathon appearance fee (nothing to do with her ASICS deal plus other income streams from sponsors) alone would be 50k at least, I know this because an acquaintance had one of 30k and they’re way below Eilish in the pecking order or relevance.
Phily will be clearing 100k from Lululemon, no problem at all. It’ll be paid as a base salary which will have deliverables such as content delivery, appearances and content shooting days across a calendar year or contract term. I say this as someone who was paid 50k/yr by a brand for this exact type of deal, and other than having to turn up every now and again or talk about the brand on socials, it wasn’t exactly hard work, plus I was paid a solid day rate for anything above the contract deliverables and was given 3k a year in kit spend, literally go on the website, order whatever I wanted, at a discounted rate too.
It was the easiest money I’d ever earned and I’m a NOBODY compared to PB in the current climate.
But if it makes you sleep better at night, no one earns anything, Phily will get a pair of Lululemon pants a year only. Used ones at that.

i've no idea about lululemon and i'm very much aware that the majority of british internationals are earning sweet fa. that said, the athletes deemed worthy of a contract are being paid a reasonable amount.
if nike had tried to reduce dina asher-smith's salary to less than 100k, she would be wearing puma. well known, well liked, individual world champs winner with nine global medals and six european golds.
does this sound like someone nike will be paying less than georgia bell:

I don't think that Lululemon will be paying her £100k straight but no doubt she'll be earning decent money from the deal; at least in the tens of thousands/yr I'd have thought. Her reach vs the pure running pros is far greater - I think that's why so many are trying to branch into content creation of some form or other. It's not a deep desire to have 10k people watch them running threshold on a cycle path, it's about proving what value they add to a brand. Philly is clearly more influencer than runner, but that won't harm her value to brands esp. ones like Lululemon.
I suspect that earning north of £100k overall is a pretty good guess for her total income, but can't see Lululemon stumping that up as a base salary for her.
more interesting to me than bowden's income (although off topic) is what sort of contract/career someone like innes fitzgerald ends up having. looks well set to blow mccolgan's times out the water in the next few years but seems to be (refreshingly) pretty uninterested in social media/brand stuff
Did a local half marathon yesterday and saw a few Fordy Runs T-shirts. Always nice to know who I’m going to be passing
The closest group to me is always well represented at local races and (from the outside) does a lot of good work engaging the community, particuarly at the beginner end of the spectrum.
I spoke to one of them once, who told me that Fordy had spoken about setting up the group on one of his videos/podcasts but he actually had nothing to do with it... they described it like a franchise model - but he is always happy for him and his mates to take some of the Fordy Runs allocated London Marathon club places though...

this is an interesting point and aligns with what I've seen before but why dont they just set their own club up? does fordy drive that many members into the club?

People don’t care if Eilish isnt beating the east Africans, a lot of club runners wouldn’t be able to name a female east African runner but they’d know Eilish or Hannah etc, the girls they’ve been looking up to and who to them have an online presence.
I don't mind admitting that I enjoyed Ben Felton's Barcelona half video.
It would be churlish not to congratulate him on a PB and he ran well, so kudos Ben.
However in the interests of balance and the spirit of this thread, the look on Ben's face when the Kaizen app founder is explaining how the app works - "I have no idea what app you're talking about or how it works" - during the sponsored segment was priceless.

Callum Elson could be eating his words when Ben gets that GB vest for the commonwealth games. I've seen more about Ben getting 2nd in Spain than Megan Keith getting the European record. Sports direct must be rubbing their hands together..
Just seen this from the start of the Castellón 10k, it's Jana van Lent (30:10 at Nice 10k recently) on the ground screaming:
To provide safe and enjoyable running experiences for runners over 18 years of age and of any ability.
She's really showing her ability to work beyond this qualification/limitation on the coaching q&a runna have,
Q: I'm getting overwhelmed looking at the long runs later in my plan, any tips
A: Don't be overwhelmed just do the runs in your plan
Not sure I think people should expect to be handheld when they're using runna but jeez come on, just don't be overwhelmed actually isn't even meeting the criteria for lirf imo
A few posts about womens elites has alot misogyny running through it.
They're absolute stars, massively followed by core populous of runners, and business wise worth every cent of sponsorship money.
Innes Fitzegerald being applauded for not showing off in social media in the same way. Blghhh, what do want women to be seen and not heard, not be so loud, show some lady like humility. Its 2026......
I'm not a Philly fan, but my god, she does alot of good inspiring alot of people (including a large cohort of young women) and addressing eating disorders/weight head on. The sports all better for her.
This thread doesn't have to lovey dovey all the time. But let's acknowledge there's a significant power imbalance between men and women, and what might be "tolerable" slight on Nick Bester, is a douche punching down said about Anya. I'm sure Andrew Tate lovers will call me sexist, but it's just acknowledging hundreds of years of patriarchy, especially in running.

She addresses it and then denies she ever had a problem? She was LITERALLY hospitalized for her eating disorder. She has LITERALLY had multiple stress fractures. She went to the press about it. She blamed her time at Oregon to be bad because they triggered her eating disorder back up again? Yet now she is in complete denial that she's ever had an eating disorder or stress fracture? The lack of accountability is astounding for someone who has influence over young females. She should be telling her truth so that others don't end up the same way. But the denial is unbelievable. Great actress!!
Another day without a run from RTJ. I'm guessing we get the Tokyo pullout announcement tomorrow. No chance he follows up Valencia by trying to run Tokyo injured.

I don't think he ever recovered from Valencia. His lowest week even in his time off in December was 130k he should've just taken the fitness loss of a proper week or 2 off in order to get himself ready for this next block but oh well hopefully he learns for next time i guess?
I hope he can skip tokyo and be in good shape for London but even then I doubt there will be enough time unless he somehow manages to sort himself out quickly.
serious wake up call coming for you when you see what they actually earn. Phoebe gill signed for more than 300k with Puma. there is money is running it just doesn’t go to everyone

you big dafty, i just said i think it's interesting to consider the earning profile of a fast rising athlete who is going against the grain by not really doing much of the profile building stuff a lot of other aspiring professionals are. same goes for the likes of emile cairess and kenenisa bekele in their own ways. i've got nothing against philly bowden at all. in fact, i've got nothing against david roche, megan roche, anya culling, george mills, either of the boring but nice bens, ally ostrander...any of them.
Please can someone help me make sense and I’d appreciate honesty/fairness. I despise Jonny Davies. He quickly realised he won’t be a quick runner - hasn’t even broken 3hours in the marathon. So then focuses on ultras. Again, nothing so special about it. It’s just longer distances and he’s below average on that. There are more talented ultra runners out there. How on earth has he become so well liked from brands? Granted he ran the tube line/the uk but these are just fun events there not actually races/competitions. Irritated me him saying he’s doing for charity, that wasn’t his focus it was for self awareness. Show me a proper trail or ultra event he’s done? And no, these silly back yard ultras in Nick Bares garden don’t count. He also dnf’ed in the last one. This isn’t jealousy, I couldn’t think of anything worse than being an Influencer but please break it down than me. He’s a fast walker, nothing else. How can red bull, lululemon and bpn actually view him as an athlete? Hate me all you want but am I wrong?

Jonny initially blew up on TikTok in covid through answering questions to a lot of beginners and bigger male runners, this quickly built his community up.
He was pretty early on as a ‘bigger lad’ running and marketed himself as the ‘biggest runner on Instagram’.
Lastly, brands are SO lazy when it comes to market research. There’s no surprise that the same inner London clique are showered in work opportunities because it’s easy work for an influencer manager to say “I got you 1 million views for your 50k budget” by using the creators that are already plastered everywhere whilst the algorithm is rewarding their content with wide coverage and subsequent view counts for the same old sh*t.
