Actually, it should be very little work for them since Mimi's team since they already have that dedicated film crew they said they hired that is supposed to be documenting the event. So, money should not an issue for Mimi. Sandy Vi with less money is doing so much more with data accuracy.

Mimi should have paid Pete K. to help her set up her run data documentation. Maybe he would do that for free, but he should be paid. The reasons why should be obvious to Mimi and her team--grief reduction.

Firstly, I agree that if someone attempting this wants to be totally transparent, and is not cheating, then they shouldn't care if impartial observers show up. However, what if said runner needs to stop and take a crap alongside the road. That stuff shouldn't be posted.

Secondly, regarding the drone, I'm not that familiar with the state of the technology. I know they can download their onboard camera to a smart phone, but logistically, getting proper footage and consolidating it to make sense takes A LOT of hard work and time. Maybe the coming AI is going to do all that for us in the future (gulp).

Them doing it would be less total work involved, versus somebody coming in fresh from the outside. It would be a ton of work either way, for it to make since. (I'm talking about a week straight.)

Additionaly, I deduct their filming is for the purposes of PR fluff, and is not for independent verification/observation. I cannot see what motivation they would have to catch any major or minor cheating going on (i.e., if it actually is going on).

The conclusion of the matter, short of getting some incredible volunteers to step up, like folks did for the Rob Young attempt, is that the Raw logged data is EVERYTHING. It really is disheartening to see posters on URC blow off the necessity of the Gold Standard logging that Sandra Vi is doing. But I an understand, because they are basically stuffed at this point. That is, unless, they step up to the plate and get one of those Garmin's ASAP and start logging like Pete did and like Sandy Vi did.

Now that shouldn't be too hard to do at all. Additionally, Garmin's headquarters are in Kansas, I think. lol

Agreed, but they can pickup for the remainder of the journey with one of those Garmins, should they choose...since, as they say, to be as transparent and desirous as possible to prove their WR attempt.

Wow! This is a brilliant idea! This would make this race even more amazing! How hard is to get all of the Garmin features set up? How many days would this require to get going?

Mimi will be an American record setter only to Brits. To the rest of the world, nope.

Let's give them the benefit of the doubt to explain why they aren't switching over to the Garmin. If truly, they are not cheating, and they have nothing to hide, why wouldn't they want to do it? Let them speak for themselves. Markus, Gary, Rob etc. what do you guys say. Are we all in agreement that Mimi should start using the Garmin ASAP? I think this would greatly drop suspicions.

Seriously? 95 miles a day for 345 days is less than a 4 day run. I think it is apples and oranges to compare it with a two month run of 50+ miles a day.
