The next question is: Has a thoroughly demonized group ever saved themselves from fascism with words? What has worked?

He doesn't have the right words to crush everyone else who has given up on free speech, the rule of law, and the Constitution in an attempt to appease fascists. Recent large poll reported through NPR shows that most Americans (74%) agree with Trump in that they believe both sides were responsible for violence in Charlottesville, AND that removing the confederate statues is bad in that it's removing a piece of American history and is a slippery slope. Bottom line is that many are siding with Trump, contrary to MSM.

Not true. The bill was a North v. South. Southern Republicans were 100% opposed, and Democrats were mostly opposed (over 90%).

The Senate version:

- Southern Republicans: 0â€“1 (0â€“100%) (John Tower of Texas)

you seem not to understand that Southern conservatives were in the Democratic Party back then. They switched to the Republican Party in the 70s and 80s.

No group saves itself with words alone. But many have done so with good words and good deeds.

Study the first and second century Christians who were persecuted mercilessly until people started to realize how kind they were towards the poor.

You could also study MLK to see how love and non-violent, pacifist protest led to real social change.

But really, Gary, you have asked the wrong question.

The real secret is that a group's goal should never be to save itself. The goal is to effect the betterment of those around them. The template for this idea is embodied in the life of Jesus. He said good words and did good deeds. But his goal was never to save himself. Jesus cared about others and that is the key.

They were in the Southern version of the Democratic party because they still thought of the Republican party as belonging to evil Abraham Lincoln and the evil North--who was a Republican because ex-thrower doesn't seem to be aware of that.
