Goal is sub 2. All I could do in pr shape is like a low 27 from a running start all out. Without digging super deep and standing start would be 28 or 29. Pr is 2:05 on indoor 200m track so ~2:03 outdoors.
Your speed is your limiting factor. As you eloquently put, a quick google search shows (400mtime+5.5seconds)×2=800mtime
. A 54.4s 400m equates to a 1:59.8s 800m.
In high school, when I first went under 2, I split 51 in a relay that season (after doing 800 and 1600 race) and my endurance was horrible. I was doing max 25 miles/week. I do remember cranking out 27/200 reps easy in practice. This is just 1 data point from a random internet commenter. I can guarantee you will not improve your sprinting ability by doing subT sessions. Your endurance will 100% improve with NSA. So if you’re able to maintain your speed and run 56/400 maybe in ~2 years of consistent NSA you will develop good/great endurance to get your goal time.
