Question for the Dems/Libs here. The Constitution allows Congress to add or subtract to the Supreme Court, and has done so several times, but not since 1869. Biden and Harris refuse to say whether they would support court-packing, even though Biden previously said many years ago that he thought court-packing was a bad idea. If Barrett is confirmed the balance in the SC would be 6-3 in favor of conservatives, though some conservative justices, especially Roberts, might vote with the liberal justices (just a shame at how partisan the Court has become). Would you (the Dems/Libs here) support court-packing? And would you support it merely because of the 6-3 conservative advantage? Or are you non-partisan and would instead not support court-packing?
I'd be very very surprised if Biden tries to pack the court. Dems just don't care enough about the supreme court to go nuclear like that.
And we all know that it is futile - when the Rs can, they would just pack it the other way.
Dems are institutionalists...they aren't political bomb throwers like Republicans. Dems want government to run well and under the guidance of experts.
Rs loathe experts and well run governments.
Biden refuses to give his opinion on this because he doesn't want to undermine Dem senators during the hearings. I'm sure Biden is against packing and so am I.
