I heard Memphis is in need of a assistant XC / Track Coach unless they dropped the XC program.

Got word that Cal State Fullerton is looking for a new distance coach. Mid major in a nice area.

This is the elephant in the room right now.
Iowa State Women’s Distance has been considered too big to fail ever since Ihmels built it into a winner 15 years or so ago.
Women’s track team finishes 12th, mostly because only 1 of 10 (?) women’s distance runners on full scholarship are good enough to score? Remedy: fire the throws coach and hire another assistant to coach…women’s distance.
Sudbury is well-paid but this albatross is going to make him gray haired before his time. The women’s distance mandate will likely remain in place until Jamie Pollard retires, though.
The mandate doesn't come from the AD. It's low hanging fruit for Sudbury and it's a smokescreen for how terrible he's directing the programs. Four distance coaches and a ridiculous amount of scholarship money should produce impressive results at the highest level. What he has produced is incredibly embarrassing. Jamie is a smart man. He knows that Martin Smith and Jeremy Sudbury have greatly damaged his credibility within the Iowa State Athletics Department. The writing is on the wall. Sudbury is in way over his head and his days are numbered. I predict the 2026 outdoor season will be his last as a director. Ever. Anywhere at any level.

I wondered when the O'Mara friends and family would begin posting. Dan is an amazing guy and I disagree with his being let go. However, this is the single worst analysis I have ever seen. Suds is safe, is doing exceptional work with the athletes and creating a safe program where the kids and staff get along. No, it is not perfect as there is no such thing. The achievement of the men's program is about what we should expect but the women's program will take time to dig out. Amy was really nice and a wonderful tactical coach but a dreadful recruiter.
ISU does need to hit up elite Iowa kids earlier and not identifying them as priorities is a massive mistake. There is zero reason Noe and Dorenkamp are not Cyclones other than the staff was outworked for them. Dorenkamp's family donates to ISU and are long time boosters for crying out loud.

might go pro- might still stay.
I wondered if he might appeal his XC eligibility as his CBU seasons were when the school was not eligible for NCAA championship competition.
There has been communication- no clue if it leads to her pursuing it

So where does Hakon go next?
Hakon DeVries surely looks out at UK. He’s changed his Instagram profile pic to remove the family wearing UK gear to something more benign. The job is posted on the UK website. His contract was up anyways, so it’s highly likely that while the investigation isn’t done, they let him know they’re not renewing.
where does he go from here? I dunno.
That job description reads more like an ops role than a distance job. Would make you think they have people in mind. Dunbars, Metcalf, and Lagat make seem to be best candidates.

Of course. Make the distance coaches do all the "boring stuff." Typical.
Clemson to Limestone to Stevenson? Geez. Going from less and less resources. What did she do at Clemson that a minority female can't get better jobs?
Any word on Winthrop who will they hire or move up from the staff?
