Bester just raced the last 1/3 of a HM at a chunk slower than 2.20 marathon pace. I think this tells us which side of the line he'll finish in Berlin. There are HUNDREDS of guys in low 2.20s who never manage to break 2.20 - tho thankfully nearly all the others present to the world differently from how he does.

It does feel like that a bit now. His latest video is about how the Asics Metafuji is a trail supershoe. Whilst wearing an Asics top.

He also wore head to toe Asics for his most recent race.

Floberg claiming he wasn't racing his latest half at full on race pace, rather did it as a workout with various different paces. I'm not saying he couldn't do a faster half if he were to race it full on from the start, but wasn't his "workout" sort of how you race a half? Start out a little slower in the beginning, getting into it and then full send the last few k's? Just naming different paces during a race as "5-10 secs faster than marathon pace" doesn't mean anything.

Again, I'm not saying he couldn't have raced it faster, just seems weird to call something very similar to racing a half a "workout". But then again, he likes to hype himself up.

I thought the beginning of his video implied that he ignored his coach's advice to run it as a workout and he did basically run it all out. The puke shot after the race seems to back that up.

Kofuzi isn't doing Chicago this year because he's run it so many times. He's getting that free bib to Berlin to claim that sixth star.

I usually think UrinatingTree is pretty funny until he does a video on a team I actually follow and realize it's just really basic surface level stuff reddit-tier stuff.

Yeah, especially in recent years as his audience grew and his channel scope has widened, he has gotten a bit more rigid and formulaic. His 2017 Drunken Sailor rant on the Pirates remains easily his best work, and the whole Days of Our Steelers series isn't too far behind.

While they are somewhat more basic and rigid now, I like that his Haters Guide videos are a good primer for teams and sports I don't follow as closely (especially hockey). Even if they're not that funny I sometimes end up learning a bunch (even if he's sometimes wrong on occasional details).
