As someone else mentioned, OU does have an indoor facility with a 3 lane track, jump lanes/pit, and space for throwers on the field. The track isn't state of the art but it has a full 100m straight and a 318m Training Lane that is actually great for winter workouts for both sprints and distance. So yeah, the team won't be training at Logan High School any time soon.

For recruiting, the lack of recruiting had nothing to do with high school athletes not wanting to go to the school and everything to do with the old coach literally not recruiting. When I was in the program we routinely had great recruits who wanted to join the team but couldn't get him to even respond or put in the bare minimum effort to get them there. Does this mean that OU will suddenly get the best recruits with a new coach? Definitely not but it will improve and a good coach should be able to develop athletes to make the program a heck of a lot more respectable than it is at the moment. It's probably unrealistic to think the program will be a MAC or National Powerhouse, but they should at least be competitive every year.

Also wouldn't be surprised if the current full time assistant (coaches the throws who have consistently produced top athletes) is promoted as long as the AD doesn't overly associate him with the last coach and being put in a bad situation. If that doesn't happen I can see them going for someone with more of a distance running background given that the men only have XC and that the school will probably never be sprint focused.

What are you talking about? They have an outdoor facility and an indoor turf building with a 3 lane training track. They are a fully funded program with a strong academic reputation. They can easily recruit high level athletes. Tons of potential there.

If it's just a sprints guy heading out, then are they going to retain the current men's and women's distance coaches? They've done a pretty solid job there, especially on the men's side with selling kids on a school that only competes 1 of 3 seasons and developing them well in mid-distance events. The men's coach has been part time for ages, the women's coach looks to be a GA? Why not make them both full-time or one full-time and the other becomes an assistant. I find it hard to imagine they bring in some big name distance coach to run the program, but honestly I have no insight on the school's plans.

Is Travis Geopart heading back to Arkansas? Is the writing on the wall at Tenn?

Travis Geopfert is a rock star. Everyone can see it. How he isn’t running his own program yet is beyond me.
