I stopped running in 2018, and got back to it last year. At this point I don't know if I'm having more fun running or reading this thread while watching the tribulations of the running youtubers!
Cultists in shambles today as their working class hero started his Sevilla marathon way too fast and then dropped out because of "hip issues" out of the blue. Nothing to do with overpacing, no sir!
Heard local reports Nick actually ran back a few miles to give Mr Poc a health Boomshakalaka (and potentially save his life) but it was too little too late.
Sipoc is one of the good guys and I’d never take joy in anyone dropping out of a marathon (with the possible exception of the BPN bros) but I am getting some grim satisfaction at seeing the cult in the other thread being taken down a peg. And this is coming from someone who loves threshold training and done a tonne of it. Their arrogance is unbelievable. They literally think it’s a “hack” for running which all the other top coaches hadn’t discovered yet which makes you guaranteed to get fast and never get injured when it’s actually a concept which has been known about for at least 35 years lol
Pretty moronic take. How exactly have they been ‘taken down a peg’ by some guy dropping out of a marathon? He has already run 2:24, he could never run again for all it matters
Fair play hahaha. Definitely have a lot to learn in the sport and need to drop the ego! I’ve never pretended to be an expert, and definitely have had a bit of a chip on my shoulder for no reason, but there is constructive feedback in even the deepest of digs. Poor execution by me. With that being said, I’ve turned down brands like Runna that have reached out to me 3+ times because id rather earn my way into a world major than promote a service I’ve never used and don’t believe in for a free flight and bib. Lessons learned and time to rest and get better at the basics.
respect for coming back here for your slice of humble pie, genuinely gl in your next one

Definitely important so separate the cult from the man. Sirpoc is very open that the concept is nothing new and says as much numerous times in his book.
Yes 100% agree, not his fault at all, he seems like a great guy. Unfortunately however he has developed a cult following of retards in the other thread and Strava group (not all of the posters but a very loud minority).

Surely the point of NSM isn’t that it’s a new concept unknown by coaches but it’s a simple plan which gets results and saves people who run for fun spending £100 a month on some chancer with a laptop or nonce in a tracksuit with a stopwatch??
First couple of years aren't too striking, but the more recent progression from 69 to 63 mins in just over 18 months, that certainly stands out a bit
He’s quit his job in the last year or so which has coincided with his recent PBs. I think it’s just having more time for better training and recovery rather than doping.
65:22 in a full Brooks Pro kit for Felton. That's got to be a 64:50 or so in better shoes. Brooks sells a lot of Ghosts but their racing shoes are horrendous.

Fenton would run in Dunlop volleys (probably only Aussie will get the reference) and tell everyone how good they are if he was getting paid. If you promote any product when a dollar gets waved under your nose, you can’t complain when it comprises other areas.
To be fair though, I think the newer Brooks racing shoes aren’t that bad.

Correct. Hyperion Elite 5 energy return is right in the mix with the best super shoes. They finally went full PEBA. Rtings ranks shoes by energy return. I'd link it, but I'm out of free previews, lol
Eh, it's still a bit funny. They were constantly sh-tting on Kristoffer Ingebrigtsen in that thread because he supposedly had lost his way and they claimed it was his own fault that he's constantly injured/sick -- but now that sirpoc does all this weird crosstraining doubles and has been injured for half a year or something, it's suddenly okay, everyone gets injured, yadda yadda yadda.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Fry is a doper
I remember he used to joke about taking EPO way before going full influencer, those captions have now changed.
I remember seeing him in an influencer video at a marathon and going "hmm ill look him up he always seems to be in an influencer pace group" and the pinned post saying "EPO can cure a stress fracture" or something along those lines.
could all be jokes obvs but changing captions when you then switch to trying to be an influencer from just posting as a layman is suspect af
Fry is a well known doper. It angers me so much seeing him getting big brand deals and such. He was literally being promoted by the official WTCS Triathlon page in a video with Alex Yee for the upcoming race in London before they were obviously informed about him and it was promptly deleted

With Hugo, I don’t really see why it matters that much if he’s doping. Yes, there’s an ethical issue. But as dull as his content is, none of it seems to involve selling supplements, training plans, or shilling products on the back of his performances. In fact, despite being one of the fastest influencers, he does not seem to use his times as part of his identity. I am sure this is part of his manicured personality. In my view, he's just been experiencing noob gains over the last few years -- he's not been running long.
