The funniest part is that he was never at OTQ pace at any point, not even close. You could still understand it if he had walked to the finish after 20 miles.
Haha exactly. 1:16/1:20ish splits. Just have to run :45/mile faster, and let’s be honest, that’s just pure will. He’s just tougher. What will be the spin on this though!?
My beef is that he would be likable if he wasn’t so overconfident. He’s not even in the same stratosphere as an OTQ guy.
Shout out to Its On Andy. Some decent results for a guy who seems to know absolutely nothing about running. He is hilarious to view on Strava. He peaked at 130k and is aiming for a sub 3:10!
His taper is the stuff of legends. 130k, 126k, 106k, 55k and now in race week he has ran 5k all week. He really hasn't a clue what he's doing. I'm amazed he hasn't seriously injury himself at some point.
He's talking about a negative split in Seville but more likely to "do a Fordy" and walk it in
There we go then. It’s On Andy achieves a satisfying negative split ...
McMurray (physio) 3:38 2nd 1500 UK Indoors beating Foggdog into 4th. Foggdog has no change of pace whatsoever and may as well step up to the marathon now.
Good showing by the "Inside Tonbridge" Higgins twins with Ted taking 3000 Bronze and Jack taking 1500 Gold (or was it Ted taking gold? Fck it, same difference)
Sipoc is one of the good guys and I’d never take joy in anyone dropping out of a marathon (with the possible exception of the BPN bros) but I am getting some grim satisfaction at seeing the cult in the other thread being taken down a peg. And this is coming from someone who loves threshold training and done a tonne of it. Their arrogance is unbelievable. They literally think it’s a “hack” for running which all the other top coaches hadn’t discovered yet which makes you guaranteed to get fast and never get injured when it’s actually a concept which has been known about for at least 35 years lol
I get you but sub-threshold training wasn't around in the late '80s and early '90s!
Yes it was
It was (and largely still is) called 'steady' or 'moderate'
The dental athlete ran an impressive 1:20 today in Barcelona - considering he's been having to train with a stress fracture that's a solid time. Nothing near his best of course, but hopefully on his way back to running low 15s for 5k, which is amazing for a full-time dentist
3.10 something - by non LR standards an amazing time!
Not by anyone’s standards
For a middle age bloke, running 7.30 miles for a marathon is a big undertaking. For most of us, It's not something you can do without serious commitment. Yes, it's not a serious time, but the guy is a hobby jogger!

isn't he a dental assistant, not a FT dentist? you know, the lass that writes down the weird letters and numbers the real dentist calls out and then hands you a tissue at the end

I was running alongside Nico for the middle part of the race and tried to say hey and he was kinda a douche tbh lol. Basically told me to F off. The I saw him DNF and assumed he got injured until I saw his race recap. Rookie execution from me and a much needed hit to the ego, but I’ll at least finish the race every time unless I’m injured or something is serious wrong. Own the time.

Nobody thought today would be the OTQ day regardless, but running seven minutes slower than his last race after announcing such a wildly ambitious goal is pretty disastrous no matter how you spin it. I wonder what Truett's excuse will be
Also lol at Flotrack posting his race on Instagram like it was a good result
Fair play hahaha. Definitely have a lot to learn in the sport and need to drop the ego! I’ve never pretended to be an expert, and definitely have had a bit of a chip on my shoulder for no reason, but there is constructive feedback in even the deepest of digs. Poor execution by me. With that being said, I’ve turned down brands like Runna that have reached out to me 3+ times because id rather earn my way into a world major than promote a service I’ve never used and don’t believe in for a free flight and bib. Lessons learned and time to rest and get better at the basics.

Scott Beattie ran at Sound - I think it was about 13.20. Blew up badly after miscounting the laps. Fair effort though as he kicked away from a top field (by Makou standards) and then just died when he realised he couldn’t tell the difference between 24 and 25.

Definitely important so separate the cult from the man. Sirpoc is very open that the concept is nothing new and says as much numerous times in his book.
