With all the current distractions, it's easy to forget some fundamental things:
President Donald Trump committed election-finance *felonies* while in the Oval Office. As a sitting POTUS, he was spared indictment; his accomplice, Michael Cohen, went to prison for the crimes.
President Trump solicited the aid of foreign governmentS against an American political rival. He was impeached for it, and should have been.
Let's not lose sight of things that really matter.
By the way, here is a scenario that I find eminently plausible:
Per the Constitution, DJT temporarily hands the presidency to Mike Pence.
As acting President, Pence pardons DJT for any and all federal crimes.
After a couple weeks, DJT says "all better!" and resumes the presidency, with federal prosecution no longer hanging over him.
Of course, NYS and NYC can still have at him...

I would argue that I'm more protected than he is as I actual follow the basic guidelines set by the CDC. Sure, he gets tested multiple times a day, but it's common knowledge that very few wear masks and social distance inside the White House. Matters not if you take a test at the steps of the Oval Office, if you happened to be exposed to the virus minutes before while you stopped for gas at a nearby station.
Let me put it this way then. There is no person on earth who has more elaborate steps to prevent contracting covid than the president. In addition to all the testing and temperature checks, there was a news report in July saying that all West Wing staff were required to wear a mask. I don't know if that's still true, but suspect it is.
Just the fact that he works in an office and rides on planes does expose him to more people than, say, someone who works at home. So he may be at greater risk than someone who doesn't have a lot of contact with others.
But my main point is that this is his own fault. The president and his supporters are responsible for the prevalence of disease and death we have in the nation right now. And that is why he is covid-positive.

Pandemics aren't meant to be turned into a hot button political issue. They require real leadership. We didn't get that & we're not going to get an admission of guilt. We're just going to get another wave of the 24 hour news cycle where liberals & conservatives yell at each other back & forth about the wrong things.

Trump made his bed on this and has had plenty of opportunities to change course. This time it is the RNC chair, Ronna McDaniel, who hasn't been near Trump since Friday last week. She tested positive on Wednesday, the same day as Hope Hicks did. Also of note is that Trump aids say he was experiencing symptoms on Wednesday as well.

But that's only an OLC opinion. Hard to say what even a Trump-friendly supreme court would do.

the theory is that the WH would phrase it something like "since we now know that the mueller report was illegal and broke all kinds of laws and norms, anyone investigated by the mueller people is forever pardoned for related acts.'

yeah and the Rs have tried to keep these poz tests quiet, which is absolutely the opposite of what you are supposed to do. You are supposed to sound an alarm so everyone in contact with the poz person goes into quarantine.
