Thanks for the shoutout. I'm new to Letsrun but it seems like a friendly community.
Funny you should ask, I recently signed up to Strava. I used to send my coach weekly mileage via Email but sadly he's no longer with us. I'm closing in on local legend status at my new digs; granted they're smaller but gotta take the dub. My cause has certainly been helped since William stopped his silly e-scooter rides and claiming them as runs.
Not looking forward to the summer mind you, will struggle to stay cool without perspiration.
You should start a YT channel and document your running. You came across really honest and genuine in your interview with Emily Maitlis - people lap up authenticity in the content creators.
Oh that's a fabulous idea. I did dip my toe into the content game by running a pizza shape in January - alas I didn't realise that my preferred Pizza establishment wasn't participating in the promotion I'd seen.
Frankly, whilst I enjoy some of the YouTube artists mentioned in this Email thread. I don't think it's for me. I'm not one for public displays of athletics, primarily due to my tendency to be a little too honourable.
Furthermore it's unlikely I'd be able to videotape any lit reels in Battersea Park as I typically wear a suit and tie when in London.
Anyway, let's show love to some working class running YouTubers like Matt Haslam. Too many poshos in the scene
Does feel like the balance is tilted towards people with a bit of money already behind them. Think Matt Fox was from similarish stock, going to private school with Freddie Ovett? Some level of privilege anyway.
Shout out to the more (subjectively) normal ones: FOD runner, Two Running Brooms, Cole Gibbens, FENTON, Marm, Ryan Thompson, Welsh Runner, plenty of others
Welsh Runner is not "normal"
Shout out to Its On Andy. Some decent results for a guy who seems to know absolutely nothing about running. He is hilarious to view on Strava. He peaked at 130k and is aiming for a sub 3:10!
His taper is the stuff of legends. 130k, 126k, 106k, 55k and now in race week he has ran 5k all week. He really hasn't a clue what he's doing. I'm amazed he hasn't seriously injury himself at some point.
He's talking about a negative split in Seville but more likely to "do a Fordy" and walk it in

If Andy, or anyone for that matter, enjoys lots of running, I don't see that as an issue. It's odd how people almost get offended by people who are not sub elite doing high milage. Hobby jogging is a fun escape for a lot of us.
That said, it amazed me how Andy did not have the discipline to run the said 5k at his planned pace! It does not bode well for the marathon; I think he's going to do a huge positive split!

I think the point people are making is that for the mileage he throws in he should be much, much faster. If you're struggling to hit 3:10 from 80 mile weeks, you need to review your training.

Could just be an abject lack of talent. I don't doubt there will be facets of his training he can improve to shave a bit of time off, but everyone knows that guy who can only break 20 when they're on 70+ mile weeks during marathon training. For every genetically talented runner, there's an equal and opposite sh*t-for-genes fuel-belt-wearing ultra-bound runner huffing and puffing along taking "tactical walks" on 1:50 halfs.
I know he has already been mentioned before but I genuinely think this guy is the worst running influencer out there, even worse than moc Goddard.
He is almost flexing that he’s had a (unconfirmed) stress fracture and just comes out with the most ridiculous statements about training. How this guy is charging people to coach them is beyond me and the recent post shows some pretty average progressions I.e. a couple of seconds off an average 5/10k time.
Just want to make sure this didn’t go missed. Low-key one of the worst in the running universe. Farms views by bragging about being just 6 seconds off Keely Hodgkinson’s 800m time, not the flex he thinks it is at all, and reeks of little man syndrome.
Absolutely hilarious that he once said he was aiming for 1:55. Whoever told him he could (I assume Manthorpe), lied to his face to make him feel good.
I really don't understand this Aubrey guy from "Bigger Than Running" - he seems to be getting flown everywhere (Tokyo marathon next) yet only gets 3000 views at best for his YouTube videos.
Somehow he's got 28,000 subscribers. Have these been bought? Very bizarre he seems to be flavour of the month for so many brands.

Ryan Thompson, you mean the one that nobody knows how he affords to train full time?

His parents. He may now be getting a small kick from youtube and some from coaching, but he was living this lifestyle before that

It’s actually pretty lame, he is boring enough as a person I’d imagine outside of running, unemployed, just trains like a pro but will only ever race like a sub elite. Bank rolled by his parents but isn’t ‘rich rich’ so it’s just kind of this aimless “getting by” category.

Seville looks perfect, if he can't run 3;05 there he is doing something majorly wrong. I had a look at the course and weather as I am curious as sirpoc is running. In fact, I don't know why runners like Andy don't just hit up sirpoc or buy a copy of NSM, it's almost certainly gonna play out better than what they are doing now and on all likelihood is the best training you could possibly for the guys in his situation.

By all accounts, he lives with his parents and, as a family, they’re self‑sufficient. People in the UK seem obsessed with the idea that everyone should stand in line doing soul‑destroying jobs. Honestly, I like him. He’s pursuing a passion project, and he’s not doing it in an egotistical or sensationalist way like Phily. As we all know, most things in life are fairly pointless, so why not enjoy yourself? What annoys me is that in the UK, relatively average posh kids like RTJ, Goddard, Fry and Parker get to follow their passions. They’re part of the 7% who go to private school, whereas the remaining 93% are expected to stay in their lane.
"Winter of Speed" seems to have Floberg in a good spot "Yeah, we fit" he states on Strava. He actually ran a workout outside too. Core memories, bro. His ever rotating "best bud" of the month is with him. "My boy" Clark, Matt Fox, Kofuzi, those old training partners, best friends and confidants fading from memory like the photo from Back To The Future. His camera man, who followed him around like a corgi follows his master now also relegated to a distant corner of the Floberg mind.
Clearly in 2:25 shape. The Flo "knows" when he's in good shape. I think if we have learnt anything from the last few years it's that when 'Berg tells us he is in good shape, we listen. He has an uncanny, almost supernatural, ability to "sense" his fitness. He doesn't need long tempos, MP workouts or time trials, he just sits in the tree and "knows" he is in 2:25 shape. Some say he can smell his own farts and instantly know his fitness level. His unparalleled marathon pacing abilities will come to the fore in Boston. He is ready. Are you?

Totally agreed, I see it in this thread quite a bit.. "what is their plan after running/youtube what skills do they have blah blah". Who gives a toss. If you can reach 30 something and say to yourself I pursued something I loved as a vocation during my 20s and I loved it and then continue to work minimum wage work for the rest of your life, that is a life better lived than 99% of us.
Especially as someone from a working class background.

He did address this in a recent podcast. he didnt think he would have the discipline to adhere to the principles. im a few weeks into NSM and i love it. Andy seems to want to run in the hills with his dog, run a few fast parkruns, run a few races and have fun. i dont think there's anything wrong with that. if he did NSM and got faster but miserable hes not winning.
