It doesn't matter if the EC system happens to yield some seemingly positive motivations... it's unfair to the core and undemocratic. My NY vote is almost worthless compared to my sister's in FL.

The fundamental problem here is that the presidential election is run differently in each state. If I'm the GOP, I'd come up a different set of rules that would effectively invalidate more Dem votes than R votes... oh wait!

It needs to be a federally run system, with unbiased funding and governance, and needs to be simple, easy and apply the same exact rules to everyone. This whole decentralization argument to prevent tyranny is clearly not working... esp when you consider that here we are with a tyrant leader supported by the party who makes the biggest fuss about fed government intrusion. It should be the Disunited States of America.

Most of those states flipped hard and are not swing states now.

As many have pointed out, so many purple states are right on the razors edge...could be 400 electoral votes for Biden, could be 270. And the popular vote would be virtually identical: Biden +4 or Biden +5.

Florida's population changes should make it a state in which the vote is in flux all of the time but it hasn't. At some point it probably will take a big jump one way or another.

The EC may be deemed Undemocratic, but US Senate situation is much worse ! Most of our citizens do not realize that only 18 percent of our population controls 52 SENATE seats ! So..in theory they could ram a First year law student on to the Supreme Court. The EC was a mistake by our Fore Father's; but giving each state 2 Senators is a larger one! We could have a criminal as President and not be able to get a Senate conviction. Sound familiar ?!?

Important news about those 9 ballots tossed. They were all mailed in together from a military base in PA.

Barr decided to turn this into a Federal issue by sending the a DOJ force out to find proof of Democrats cheating. ... But you can expect that the votes being for Trump that Barr will sue PA to force them to count those "illegal" (according to Trump) mass votes.

I should add that the 2 undetermined votes make no sense. If no presidential candidate was elected they should state that. If they were for a third part they should reveal that. It appears that whoever mailed in those 9 ballots tamper with two ballots that probably voted for Biden. Otherwise it smells if the ballots were 7 for Trump, 2 for ???, and 0 for Biden.

In other words, it was not someone randomly helping 9 military people send in ballots. The ballots group should remained tossed out. Or, the specific voters involved could be asked to redo their ballots and send them in individually. There is time to allow the latter solution.

All you have to do is mess with Broward County in Florida and you could change who is elected president.

There is no national oversight into each locally run election district.

And states like North Carolina have gotten very good at voter suppression putting a thumb on the scale of the results.

I see your point that if you had a single national system then hacking or disrupting that would be powerful.

But you would put in place some Pentagon level security.

I suspect it comes down to two causes also associated with two types of people:

1) People who tend to be gullible: Trump exploited the base's emotional weakness and trashed the former ethical standards, so naturally they follow him... anything is justified in the name of defending the country from the commies).

2) Opportunists: People love power and money and trump is a magnet for corruption, so they flock to him. Notice these people in the headlines are always participating in the corruption, they are scamming others like trump.. they see the opportunity and easy access.
