Indeed, the plan for Desi worked perfectly. Train to 95% and save her for the main event. Seems Cragg didn't have to go too deep into the well so she should be in a good place too.

Shalane has some work to do, hope she can recover well.

Are there not at least unofficial results somewhere? I mean a HS meet has results up in minutes. Can we at least do the same here?

Is there a link for full results anywhere yet? Trying to check up on some individuals I know personally who weren't near the front.

Matt Llano - best lgbt athlete today? Great performance and he should be an inspiration for lgbt athletes everywhere.

So true. Seems like we have this same convo every 4 years. Is it too much to ask for mile splits at a national championship on a functioning website?

Am I the only one who thought Rupp looked like he was really hurting at 40K, or thereabouts (not like we got splits or anything)? I think he was feeling those things one has never felt before when running a first marathon but he handled it well. My guess is it wasn't so much leg muscle fatigue, but all the other things that can get to you.

Congrats to Rupp, he ran the race he needed to and I think he tried hard to be more personable at the end (which he just doesn't have the personality for).

So, Meb's kind of a kiss ass who reminds us of his sponsors, coach, family, and religious beliefs every time he opens his mouth, and that makes you appreciate him more than another ATHLETE? Actually, Meb is one of the nicest, most outgoing, friendliest and down to earth people you'll in this sport at any level.

Rupp approached the finish line smiling, crossed it with clear enthusiasm, and was able to stand up for his interview. He seemed like a pretty sincere and surprisingly humble guy while answering questions, as he most always does when being interviewed. Are you bummed because he didn't pump his fist for the last mile or carry a flag with him? Sports always get ruined by stupid spectators like you who feel like they deserve something more than a clear display of athleticism.

Agreed. I've actually always liked Rupp, even if the whole NOP thing stinks. To the extent I am still able to root for elites, I, strangely perhaps, root for him. It'd be nice if the guys who were great were also charismatic, but, distance running is not a natural fit for extroverts. We shouldn't expect it.

I suspect a shoe/foot problem. There was a shot of him after the race not looking too happy with his feet.

It's unfortunate that the men's team doesn't represent 3 x Olympic medal contenders as the women. Less Rupp, why isn't the United States capable of scaling 5K/10K/XC talent to the marathon -- think Bobby Curtis, Sam Chelanga, et al? With all due respect to Meb and Ward, there's no way they'll have the required turnover to compete at the international level. In essence, we have a Superstar and 2 x Brian Sell's on the team. No doubt, today's results should have given folks like Lagat, Ben True, Hassan Mead, Ryan Hill and Garret Heath cause to pause & think: maybe I should have gone for the double as well?
