What is going on with vincennes university?? They just hired a new head coach and after a few weeks the jobs back open. AD is sending out blast emails to coaches asking if their interested..interesting approach for sure
Iowa State Women’s Distance has been considered too big to fail ever since Ihmels built it into a winner 15 years or so ago.
Women’s track team finishes 12th, mostly because only 1 of 10 (?) women’s distance runners on full scholarship are good enough to score? Remedy: fire the throws coach and hire another assistant to coach…women’s distance.
Sudbury is well-paid but this albatross is going to make him gray haired before his time. The women’s distance mandate will likely remain in place until Jamie Pollard retires, though.
I’m open to the idea of Wallace poaching JUCO Kenyan WOMEN’S distance runners as early as…today. Rudolph recruited a Missouri Valley Conference footprint for most of her tenure and SURPRISE! ISU ended up with a Missouri Valley caliber cross country roster. The ISU women’s distance recruiting strategy needs to be pretty much identical to the men’s. The top American high school girls distance runners aren’t going to come to Ames until it’s a top 10 women’s cross country program again and that is only going to happen with internationals, which the staff already knows how to coach. When ISU signed Cailie Logue & Amanda Vestri ISU was two years removed from finishing 2nd at NCAA Cross Country. The likes of them aren’t coming again until we clearly give them a reason to choose ISU over more glamorous options. Paityn Noe gew up 10 minutes from Ames.
Guys....you can't poach Kenyans from juco. Do you guys know what juco is? Lol the nature of the school implies that they'll transfer..also "poaching" is an interesting phrase to use for African HUMANS.

Wasnt the coach supposed to be Randy Heisler? Former IU and Ball State coach?

This has been mentioned a couple times earlier in the thread but never got an explanation: Ian Frazier appears to no longer be coaching at FSU, and the men's XC team does not have a distance coach listed on the roster page.
Don't be surprised if its Kane just coaching the men.
Kane has run the program into the ground in 2 years. I wouldn't be surprised if they cut the men's program and put the scholarships into track. Every decent runner they've had the past two years since Braman left ends up transferring out.
Getting a coaching job isn’t easy. Especially if you’re someone who just puts your head down and works hard and isn’t a social butterfly who gets chummy chummy with people just for the sake of having an in. Not saying that’s a bad thing it’s just some personalities don’t work well with that and this is someone who is going to be a great coach. Having a positive, outgoing personality does help you with recruiting as it’s easier to land recruits when you can excite them with your enthusiasm.
you have to grind and that is the obvious and when you get your chance don’t make any major mistakes(like the Uk coach did for instance). Be a real person though, don’t lose sight of that. Don’t let this career take you into a life where you lose sight of who you are, that’s why these coaches end up getting in shi with their athletes. Personally I like women my age or slightly older who are nice looking and have their shi together. Me being someone who doesn’t take this career too seriously is able to get out and meet plenty of ppl who have no connection to athletics and it’s a breathe of fresh air! Good luck young bucks!
