For those who haven't been following the Moab 240, Will Goodge appears to be closing in on a top 10 finish.
Sneakers, please be gentle with Will Cockerell when he issues his inevitable retraction of comments declaring Goodge would never survive such an ordeal.
Cockerell will spontaneously combust when Goodge crosses the finish line.
One thing I can say about Nedd's run is I'm pretty certain he'll finish under Edda Bauer's world record time of 21 days 23 hours 35 minutes, from 2020 at the Athens International Ultramarathon Festival.
That's the record Edda set for women over 75 for those wondering. And it was a split time en route to her finishing the 2000km race.
Edda is still racing multiday events. Since turning 80 earlier this year, she's competed in 16 ultras, totaling nearly 3000km of racing.
After 125 master laps, Nedd will have about 4 km to run. That will be time to move him into lane 1 for 10 laps, with a countdown over the stadium PA system and on the scoreboard.
A nice summary of the real problem. The charity and the genuine effort, are all great. But if you are going to “break a record” for charity, then have it measured to perfection with fool proof tracking and simple evidence for us all to follow along the journey.
This has been incredibly hard to decipher where he is at any given time.
Hopefully the next big sensation or public endurance effort (by Nedd or by others), has excellent hole-proof evidence which we can all enjoy following along with.
107k to go now. It will be a long night. 23 hours left.
As per the barefoot sports timing website, Nedd completed 117 master laps / 1502km at 11:23am.
That gives him 107km to go, which is possibly a little more than what he managed on Day 10 and Day 11, where he completed 8 master laps (102km) in each 24 hour period 5pm to 5pm. Both days included overnight breaks, 7 and 8 hours respectively. He had a 6:40 break last night.
If he pretty much holds the pace of the last couple of days and follows the same sleeping routine tonight, he's scheduled for a finish by about 1pm.
Obviously, lots of things may change in 24 hours, both how much rest he needs and how his body responds. He and his team will have a better idea later this arvo. I expect they'll work out a strategy depending on what Nedd feels his capable of and publicise a Wednesday finish time around that.
I suspect the "track closing at noon" might simply be throwing a few breadcrumbs at this stage. Expect a media announcement about the grand finish early this evening, giving media and supporters time to plan their day. Social media will have this evening and tomorrow to build it up. For mainstream media, Nedd's team will want his impending finish reported on TV news tonight (preferably with file footage of him running strongly on Day 1) and the finish tomorrow evening's bulletins.

They seem to be out by 1 hour, i.e. it should be 12:33pm. It seems odd that they are on standard time given that their clock started on 13th Oct and now on 25th Oct
Another strategy is to push through the night and finish with live crosses from the breakfast TV programs. It would require the certainty of 6am to 9am finish. That might be a tough ask for Nedd, but it's likely something they'll weigh up this evening when they have a better idea of whether it's an achievable goal.
Whether he finishes under Sandy Barwick's record or not (7:40am tomorrow) isn't a comparison he'll want to receive any attention.
Neither "Nedd Smashes Women's Record That's Stood for 33 Years by 4 Minutes!" or "Nedd 'Chicked' in Big Run!" are headlines that are going to drive donations.
And that’s “master lap” 118 in the books completed. Fair amount of walking. But seemingly walking more freely than this time yesterday. Gearing up no doubt for 3-4 more laps today with a bit more running for the AUS prime time TikTok viewing audience.
Fundraising currently at $1.8mil. This is on par with what NB raised with his trans con run in 2022. Some reports had him up to $2.5 in the months following completion of that run. Can his team get the fundraising total up to his $10mil goal? Merchandise sales and percentages of certain goods sold during October to be added to the total. Also funds raised by individuals completing their own uncomfortable challenge later this month also to continue rolling in. Will corporate aus stump up some big $$$ to the cause?

Barefoot sports times are in AEST. This reflects that NB started on 3rd Oct during AEST, we changed to AEDT on 6th Oct (clocks went forward an hour). Barefoot sports timing splits are now 1hr behind current time in Sydney.

Yep and in super tough conditions where the temperature was between 33 and 38 degrees celsius every day of the event. It must be said that ned has been pretty lucky with the conditions over the past fortnight. It's been very mild in Sydney for this time of year.
Coming into Nedds last 180 laps it’s hard to discourage the bloke. The amount of grit he has shown is unbelievable. Knowing he wouldn’t break the record he could of called it quit days ago.
and let’s be real it was never about the record he only used that as clickbait.
it was more likely about showing what someone can do when they train hard and put their mind to it
