I think the assumption that Dems haven't cared much about SCOTUS picks is a wrong one. I would say they have been more comfortable than Rs about it given court decisions have resulted in tiny but important steps toward a more progressive country. Dems are now seeing how that little progress could be wiped away in a matter of a few years as the federal courts are packed with trump loyalists and now this. It's a huge issue for Dems.

I think this type of aggressive reaction for a few days is ok. Keep in mind no matter how much Dems pound the table about the lack of COVID response the media won't care, they want the SCOTUS juicy stuff. Also, whoever is voting based on whether they think trump is or isn't doing a good job on COVID will certainly not be changing their minds... unless the spread takes a violent turn for the worse and the media renews its focus.

Rs are of course finding ways to stop people from voting. It's their favorite, favorite thing. Other than candidates who talk eugenics to all-white audiences.

If a PA voter mails in a ballot in one envelope instead of two, it will be invalidated.

The huge upward tick in Dem campaign fundraising alone should boost that number... it's a leading indicator. But of course too close for comfort and I would say picking up 3 seats net would be a massive wall to climb even if doesn't get them majority.

Yep, that's my thought as well. The reality for too many americans is that they sometimes enjoy the entertainment factor of the headlines but they just don't invest any emotion in it. But it all accumulates and for my friend this was the wake up call. To be fair, he's been in Germany for 10 years maintaining a residence in the Poconos feeling disconnected from all that is going on. Every democrat friend of mine is agreeing this has become the biggest issue overnight. We all know there will be a COVID vaccine in the next year but there might not be a remedy for 30 years of conservative SCOTUS rulings.
