In 2022 alone 5.000+ of Donetsk PR and Luhansk PR troops were killed and these were Ukrainian citizens. Russian troup numbers are not included and are counted separately.

Civilian casualties in 2022 alone reach 8.000 in DONBAS at modest and we can surely agree that Ukrainian army is responsible for at least half of these, as they're shooting AT Donbas.

I thought the rebels were Luhanskian and Donetskians (or Russians), not Ukrainians? Since they formed their own little independent territories and all and didn’t want to be Ukrainian any more.

So, if we take out the soldiers fighting for the DPR and LHR who don’t want to be Ukrainian (and nobody is losing sleep over US weapons killing them), we’re left with civilians.

From 2014 to 2022, there were 3,404 civilians killed in Donbas (I assume this includes the 298 aboard MH17 killed by Russian sponsored terrorists using Russian weapons, but Wikipedia isn’t clear). If we use your figure of 8,000 civilians killed in Donbas since Feb. 22, and half are killed by Russians - then Russian attempts to liberate and protect the people of Donbas have killed as many civilians in 9 months as had died in the previous 8 years. It seems to me that Russia is doing a really sh*tty job of protecting these people.

But, go ahead and blame the US - just don’t expect anybody with an IQ above 14 to take you seriously.

You still don't get it. Zelensky wanted to keep and "ukrainize" Donbas and Crimea at any cost, but people there don't want that. Now Crimea and Donbas are where they want to be and the war should end right here.

With the Western help Zelensky could build up the rest of the country to a EU membership worthy country and finally forget Donbas and Crimea which have been a pain in the *ss for decades now.

Polls organized by Kiev say one thing, polls led by Donbas say the opposite. The latest poll (voting for joining Russia) was in favor for Russia.

I say let the UN organize a poll with the entire world watching and protecting and we'd get the real results.

Yet there is a different kind of a problem here. Just like there are profiteers who are interesting in keeping people sick to make large amounts of money in medical fields, there are very powerful profiteers who are interested in keeping this war going for as long as possible.

Donbas had basically become a stalemate where less than 30 civilians died in all of 2021. So what does Putler do? Pumps his military into the situation where he can flatten entire cities and massacre tens of thousands with his ham-handed WWI tactics. One of many reasons why he is a war criminal who deserves to burn in eternity for his grotesque f#ckups.

With the price of oil in a tailspin, Putin getting a knee in the groin economically right when he can least afford it. If he can't keep the oil moving in his northern pipelines he is looking at permanently losing them, as happened win 1992, but back then western technicians were able to fix things up. You keep coming back to this. Not in my lifetime will this shift happen. Note that China holds over $970 billion in US treasury bonds precisely because they want and benefit from a strong dollar to keep their export revenue strong. The idea that major exporting nations would pursue an economic policy that automatically and significantly devalues hundreds of billions of dollars of assets is risible. Moreover, such a shift to devalue the dollar would raise the cost of all these nations' exports not only to the US but to many other nations. Devaluing the dollar would seriously undermine the economic and political stability of the BRICS member nations themselves. Read the headlines. You think Xi wants a weak dollar?

At some point another generation or two down the line if China can re-initiate strong economic growth and actually become the world's greatest economic power, then I think you could well see a revaluation of the dollar's role as an international currency, but the shift would be done deliberately and rolled out in such a way as to minimize financial disruptions that benefit no one.
