Yes. I already alluded to smart people with learning disabilities in another post when I wrote this - "He is not more intelligent than average. Experts have analyzed his speech. He has the vocabulary of about a 5th grader. Yes, he clearly has a learning disability, and while you can be super smart and have a learning disability, you can also be dumb as sh!t and have a learning disability. He is the latter."
You are incorrect though that ability to read has no correlation with intelligence. It most assuredly does. It's just that by itself, it can't be the determining factor, and I did not judge him on that alone.
