This has to make it to the OFUMIU team, it would absolutely blow up
You know what to do… I encourage everyone to report Ben Parker’s falsely claimed 2:34 marathon to the OFUMIU.
It’s what he deserves.
Bit late to this - but the OFUMIU post from 13th January calls out the most common trait of being a chip time offender is “Having a two week Runna trial code” (hilarious in itself)
Ben Parker replies thanking them for their work, and that they will educate their ambassadors. The absolute irony of this will be a joy to watch when he’s called out for his disingenuous 2:34 marathon claims for all to see! Get those reports in.
Thoughts on Hannah Rose Irwin? She keeps popping up in my recommendations. Seems like a legitimately good runner but my god she looks, acts and sounds like a literal child. Worse than Allie O/Philly Bowden.
Good runner. Taking every NI record despite perhaps never having been there? Another case of English athletes claiming for another home nation for an easier route to international vests and commonwealth times, but Hannah has pushed through that and probably could get some English vests now.
Nick Bester is really struggling at the moment, struggling to hit the paces in his training, great honest content, and relatable
His insistence that he was fine despite constantly telling us his metrics showed him in an absolute hole and he's been struggling with training pre and post Kenya seems silly now imo.
Fairly clear he's buried himself, with regular illness, struggles to train, and indicators that he's struggling from his recovery stats (however much you trust these or not they seem part of the picture). Another one to go and discuss with his coach to see if they can salvage the block with a few weeks left
Our Nick's gone early with the Tokyo excuses, or is he sandbagging us all and will go 2:18? He seems to have been upping the mileage to 200k week, going to Kenya for purely content creation (how much can the body benefit from being at altitude for a few days?) and now he's paying the price. And did I see he's running a race in the Middle east before Tokyo? It looks like to me he's trying to maximise his 5 minutes of running-influencer fame at the price of his marathon time ala Culling.
Because they offered it to him for free. Fenton is a tragic case really, such little actual potential for success in life, the weird looking little barista has no real self worth compass, so every freebie is gobbled up with glee and now, more sadly, validation. We live in interesting times.
These kind of posts have no place in this thread and are more akin to blogsnark/guru gossip/tattle or whatever your choice is. Be better.
It's not written in a kind way I guess, but it is accurate. It is also exactly in line with the thread title, discussing the trials and tribulations of running youtubers. Has this thread really never wondered what any of these people would be doing in life without youtube? Should we pretend Ben isn't a "weird looking little" guy? What about Ed Budd - does he have good teeth? There is constant talk about Truett Hanes being jacked in a negative way, should that stop? They have chosen visual media to sell themselves - how they look is part of it. If anything, I think it's a badge of honor and speaks well of him that a guy with so little talent, and funny looking, has against those odds had the wherewithal to make way more money videoing himself then he ever could have by getting a job commensurate with his abilities. It's remarkable. He even makes enough so his girlfriend doesn't have to work. That's quite something.
Its not about coaching. It is about: Oh Ostrander knew her ed story gives a lot of views, even when it is the xx time she is telling it and now we will use this and of course she will come because she needs the money.....

Cut out the insults on appearance, it's garbage stuff.

He commented so they now like him I would imagine so doubt they’ll call him out. That’s just someone who wants to be an influencer hiding behind that page, so they have the personality and external validation cravings of an influencer so will ass kiss like one too in comments.

Ben Parker is such an odd bloke. The way he carries himself appears clunky and ineloquent. However, when he speaks, he sounds like a parody of old English aristocracy. Even posh English kids don’t speak like this. I thought I was listening to Jacob Rees-Mogg (a comically posh English MP)
The mismatch between his voice and appearance is so absurd that my mind cannot reconcile it. It’s just so odd.
He must live in a vacuum of yes‑men who never pull him up on his clear theatrics.

You aren't wrong, they could have backed off a little on Fenton, but the posts on LRC are quite tame compared to what I see on blogsnark. That place is brutal...and that comes from someone who is used to LRC being toxic at times. I had no idea...reddit is far, far worse.

It is acceptable to snark on their content/stances, IMO, but not their physical appearance. Then we are no better than they are.

Quite difficult to anyway as most of them are conventionally very good looking - Floberg, Bester, Donato, Mica & Adam Woods, Gabriel, Fashionjogger etc etc
He doesn't just sound posh, he IS posh. Used to vaguely know him back in his personal trainer days. In lockdown/ Covid times he used to do Insta videos of workouts from his huge Richmond flat right on the river - not the sort of place most personal trainers can afford.
Richmond was also where he did his 'marathon PB' on a tiny tiny little loop (perhaps even round Richmond Green? can't remember now) based on Strava distance, I think. The margin of error must have been a good couple of miles by the end.
He knew absoutely NOTHING about running btw. Like not a single thing.

Sub-2:30 if he does loops of the Diana Fountain in Bushy Park.
Well you're wrong because he did a theatrical mile effort with his loving family hanging by his every stride and DEFINITELY not looking like they'd rather be anywhere else

The sad reality for us plebs is that as long as you have the money, you can easily grift.
