What is the Brian Lawlor story? One thread (only 12-13 pages on letsrun) reveals a guy who says he's much better than he is. Why hasn't it received the same attention that Rossi, etc. have?

It's the 2nd thread on him. The first was deleted; I think it had a mention of A.V.

It's a pretty long thread on someone who has never done anything except boast on social media. Rossi and Kip actually cheated. The Rossi story is interesting but that thread is about 1100 pages longer than it needs to be and abandoned all purpose and reason 6 months ago.

I don't know how someone happened upon the Brian Lawlor social media to begin with. He's a midpack runner who claims to be one of the greatest runners in history from 100m up to the marathon. How'd he attract attention outside his mostly fake followers in the first place?

Nope, link was available when I checked soon after he posted. Also similar thing happened with Jill's Instagram earlier in the thread.

She has every right to do that, but I hope it's not because people here are harassing her or even worse her family. To have any hope of getting to the bottom of this everyone should stop harassing people and start being somewhat respectful.

Duh. We know that, but we're still trying to figure out what their game was and why.

When they asked people to spend money to register for the event to be part of the record attempt, they left "ha ha just kidding" and moved into illegal fraud.

Of course no one is going to prosecute or treat this as some heinous crime, but why commit fraud for a joke that so far does not have a punch line?

How is linking to what people post on a (then) public Facebook account disrespectful?

Just natural to try to find out who the unknown runner is. Ankle doc promoted her as a public figure chasing the American record. Not just a good emerging runner but one that had arguably already come close to breaking it. No ill will presented to anyone.

Either she'll never run publicly, or she'll run a time in public that verifies the excitement, or someone can admit they got a bit ahead of themselves with some wishful thinking.

Maybe the RD and/or Dr. Sedicum are just that gullible and actually believed this woman when she told them she ran the course in an American record time. Amazing two people who actually run would believe a story like that, but nothing they've done since the original announcement on the Rotary Facebook page has been too smart.
