this is pretty accurate. unless oswego surprises and can somehow catch oneonta. doubtful, but stranger things have happened. new paltz/buff state will be interesting though.

I don't think RIT would be running their full squad in this race.

Also another factor that could play: Rochester may upset SLU. They did it last year, and don't give me the bullshit that SLU ran it as a workout.

The question is, if Rochester wins again will they also hug each other in celebration and hop around cheering again and then get 13th at regionals again?

New Paltz could take down Buffalo State but i do no think they will beat Oswego. The only thing New Paltz has in their side is Joe Gentsch. The rest of the team is going to really hurt them. The rest of the team didnt even break 28min the past 2 races. There avg is around 28:30 for there first 5 people

You are an idiot. NP may take down buff state, but definitely not Oswego. By the way, I'm not from a suny school.

The NYSCTC XC meet now allows teams to run 12 runners, a change from the 10 it had allowed in the past. Seems like a good idea. Teams who have a big group competing for the top 7 have another race to let things shake out more clearly.

really if the coach can decide 10 people to pick a top 7 from he needs a new job.

While I understand what you're trying to say, don't you think good teams, Cortland and Geneseo for example, have a lot of runners who could be nearly interchangeable? This is most obvious for Geneseo, and the tail end of the cortland team.

More importantly the good teams get to see how many of their top 12 they can get in before the other teams top 5. That's always fun.

Something no one has talked about yet...will Jesse Burube run well for a whole season? Good runner, nice kid, but when he has bad races, they tend to be pretty bad. And he can have more than one or two a season.

Neither of those teams are in the NYSCTC and Im pretty sure both coaches know who their top 7 are. Jesse Berube was good all last season, it was his first two years where he came out of the gates on fire only to fall apart late in the season. I think he will be just fine this year.

Except Jesse is a senior now and has experience under his belt. I think he has it all figured out. Ramsey is just as inconsistent. Give him a bad race and SLU is out.

Most of the notion that Ramsey is inconsistent is based on two races: Nats 10k his freshman year and XC Nats last year. If you're going to say that experience helps, then you can throw out his freshman 10k (and also remember that he ran his qualifying time a week previous and it is often difficult to race two good 10ks in a row a week apart). That means the notion is now based on one bad race, hardly enough to call him a choke artist. I know that he ran poorly at NYSCTC last year, but he fell multiple times in that race, and those conditions didn't play into his strengths (long, open stride).

I know that won't change anyone's mind about him, but it's a valid point either way.

Also a note about Ramsey...he made nationals in the 10k as a freshman. Not many people do that. Not to mention his race at ECACs to move up the list was amazing. Look at who he beat in that race. Also, "bad race at nationals"=69th.

69th isn't good for someone who qualified for nationals in the 10k as a freshman.
