Nothing I said was nonsense. I know the history, and you clearly don't know the present. The NCAA has changed and the strategies that built the old WSU powerhouse literally do not exist anymore no matter how much nostalgia you have for it.

I've poured as much sweat onto the dirt of the Palouse as anybody. I was one of the guys pushing the Cougs on a path back to relevance and then watched that progress evaporate as soon as I left so believe me when I say that I don't like the current state of the program either, but I understand the reality of the situation.

I get that you’re trying to defend Phipps, but it’s about more than the performance on the track at this point. Dude just had to turn over an entire staff because no one wants to work with him anymore. He’s had like 6 operations people in 4 years because he’s such a pain to work with. Admin has to be tiring of that at this point… Couple that with last place performances at conference on BOTH sides, and the fact that their lone national qualifier immediately hit the portal and if WSU renews him it’s pretty clear just how little they care about what happens with that program

Not a defense of Phipps, without giving anything else away I'm well aware of his shortcomings in this director role. My argument is truly that the WSU admin does not care enough to make the change right now (largely because they do not have the financial freedom to care). I predict quiet 1 year renewals. It'll take another equally bad year or two before change happens.

They could also not even renew and just leave it at will… that’s my guess

Its odd that there hasn't been anything released. It's been over 2 months since they opened the search.

They may have had to wait until a contract or two ran out before hiring a new director. They also wanted to wait on some big fish who were competing at nationals. I get it. There really wasn't anything to announce.

I'm following a couple of norwegian hobbyjoggers on Strava and almost everyone seems to use high volume (very easy) + double threshold. Results are not so great considering the amount of work. Spending 12h of training/week to barely run 33' or 2h40 is not very effective IMO.
