Kind of odd to me that the CEO originally said, way back in his July blog on the investigation, that "SKINS will publish (the professors') report and our response to it, including any action we take, by the end of September."

However, they are apparently letting the report come out on its own without any skins' comment. In fact, RY's picture and profile are still on skins' website as a sponsored athlete, so they are certainly playing things pretty close to the vest at the moment.

Really thought that they would issue their own response more or less simultaneously with the report, but I guess that they will allow the report to percolate for a while, then respond based on public reaction? Or are there legalities where they have to allow the report to circulate, then respond? Or maybe they're doing this to emphasize the report's impartiality?

SKINS CEO is on a plane, and will land in Australia early Sunday. He didn't want to release a statement, and then be MIA for 24 hours. The embargo is scheduled to be lifted once he lands and is available for comment/questions. Seems fair to me.

Hmm, I guess his TransCon attempt qualifies as the "not" in that quote. Riding in an RV at 8 mph across the country certainly does test the limits of human endurance. So if you look at it that way, Rob wasn't lying. What an inspiration!

If you have been following along, he never has served it up after hundreds of requests. So it is logical to assume that somebody demanded it. And he probably knew he was busted anyway by that point.

He posted images to Facebook that proved he'd already sync'd the data to TomTom site. They could only be removed from there by manual deletion, and if Skins had told him not to touch the data, he'd be in far more legal problems if he did. This way, he just looks like a total fraud, rather than being a total fraud that's being sued by his sponsor.

What does "demand" mean? Surely he could always just say "no", or delete it? If I were him I'd never release it. The consequence of not releasing can be no worse than the alternative.

If we are getting the legit TomTom data dump on Sunday, as it appears we may, that is very exciting, but also very surprising to me. I'm pumped to see that zero cadence through Emporia, and the 50mph hitchhike through he desert after the RV breakdown!

Doctoring data so that nobody can tell you have done so is harder than it seems plus I have an idea that you can't get at the TomTom data on the watch as you can with a Garmin

I received the report from Ross Tucker via email, here are some excerpts:

"thanks for the email. It’s good to put a name to the website - that website was a really valuable source of information for us, so thank you for your time and energy putting it together. I’d say it may still be the most comprehensive analysis of the Young run, even after ours is published

we used his Tom-tom record..., and so we didn’t actually need to tackle the issue in nearly as much detail as you did. We did manage to verify much of what you did on that site, and there are sections in the report devoted to this, but you should be very proud of your analysis, it was very good.

I am happy to talk further with you about the report after it is published on Sunday. In the meantime, here is the report we did. I’d ask that you not publish any of this and respect the embargo until Sunday. The reason for that, by the way, is that the Skins CEO Jaimie Fuller is flying to Australia as we speak and he wants to be available for comment once it is released, so he requested a slight delay, which we felt was reasonable.

Ry and Dustin do not seem like they have the technical expertise to doctor things, so (a) is unlikely. I would imagine the username/password was requested. Just like when he uploaded the data to strava before, I think RY is such a people-pleaser that he will do anything to please someone now, without regard to the long-term consequences, so (b) is just how things played out. Maybe he still thought he would get away with it, or was unwilling to burn the house down back in June, preferring instead to wait until September while he plans his next move...

That's what I would have guessed, that the cadence sensor and algorithm have a hard time distinguishing between signal and noise when the signal it is expecting is so different than what it is detecting. A big hulking RV is going to have some wobble going on anyway, and that could be picked up as signal.

I can't believe I'm saying this since I want to see it so badly, but considering how Fuller and Skins handled things, I think we should honor the request. Skins brought on two very respectable investigators (originally I thought they would assign a couple of bozos to protect their corporate interests) who apparently put a lot of time and effort in if the report is ~100 pages as claimed. So, I'm ok with another day and half wait. After all, we've been waiting a while!
