In the absence of the police, yes. However, it is no longer needed tonight since the National Guard will be there.
As for denouncing the violence, whenever I brought it up, your side always came back with "oh, it's just people exercising their right to protest or there is hardly any violence, etc." or just outright denials. Now your party is getting hit hard in the polls because you bowed to the mob and appeared as being weak against crime.
